26 Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. 27 When Jesus had stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house but among the tombs. 28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.” 29 For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.) 30 Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered him. 31 And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss. 32 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. 33 Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.

1. Jesus’ Identity
28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.”
Even though Jesus was new to this region, the demons that possessed the man recognized him IMMEDIATELY.
Scripture tells us that Jesus is the second person in the Holy Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
We see a snapshot of this in the Great Commission:
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
How can we identify Jesus in our own lives?
By recognizing His presence
Notice how Jesus was identified before he said anything. Yes, there are some super-natural powers at play, but they are the same powers that are at work today.
If you notice, sometimes in your own life you might notice the presence of God before you see a work of God.
It is kind of like when I was younger. I grew up playing baseball and I LOVED it. The thing was, my dad grew up playing baseball and he ALSO loved it, so he coached me. Can I just tell you that you don’t know pressure until your parent coaches you in a sport.
I remember this certain day, we were at the batting cages after a game that we got absolutely destroyed in. There were about 5 cages and I had teammates in all of them. I remember that everyone was struggling because my dad had thought it was a grand idea to crank the speed up to 85 MPH for 12 year old.
My dad stopped everyone and moved my them to one cage to watch me hit as an “example”
I completely wiffed and without even looking, I felt my day staring a hole in the back of my head. His presence was known
7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?

What is the best way to get to know God’s voice, by spending time with him. Knowing more about him and

2. Jesus’ Authority
27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
