Life: Yesterday, Today, and Forever
The world is interested in living....
4 So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.
Yet, there are some who do not want to live.
Job lost almost everything
15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
It does pay, regardless of the circumstances to LIVE for the Lord and to trust Him.
What you think of yourself can be a lot more important than what others think of you.
Jesus said “Go”
We say “Come”
If they want it let them come
3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
We cannot get by with natural things alone.
We cannot be happy with just things.
Jesus said, “I am the bread of life”
Unless we eat natural bread we will die physically
Unless we eat spiritual bread, we will die spiritually.
We have to have both.
He said, I am the bread that came down from Heaven.
A man who tried to find happiness with things.....
17 Therefore I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me, for all is vanity and grasping for the wind.
Why? because he had left spiritual things.
The rich fool sought real life in natural things and he failed to find it.
17 And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’
18 So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’
Here is the secret:
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
10 For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it.
18 times the Lord sent judgement on Israel because of the misuse of the tongue.
One of God’s greatest gifts is life.
What counts is not the length of life, but how we live it.
To have a good balance in life we must
Work
Play
Love, and
exercise faith
We are always chasing tomorrow, but never catch up.
We would like to change some things in our tomorrow. Is it possible?
Yes
5 And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
It is good for a man to look ahead.
Look ahead and begin to exercise faith to have it.
It is good for a man to look ahead and plan!
The Lord spoke to Noah about the flood. For 120 years they waited, and finally it came.
By faith Abraham saw the Lord’s day and rejoiced.
He showed John New Jerusalem - something for us to look forward to.
He wants us to look forward....look for better things.
If we are not careful we ill judge tomorrow by yesterday and today!
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
These people went BEYOND their time and saw it like Abraham and rejoiced.
These people went BEYOND their time and saw it like Abraham and rejoiced.
You can’t defeat a person that knows howto jump out of today into tomorrow.
Only God is in tomorrow.
The devil is not in tomorrow.
He plans to be there and probably will for a while, but a day is coming when he will not be in anything.
If you can’t find anything to be happy about and to rejoice over today… how about looking ahead.
The greatest things are ahead.
1,000 years without a devil ...
New Jerusalem awaits....
We’ll meet the Lord in the air.
Plan for tomorrow with faith.
God will be there.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
If things are not right today, we make them right for tomorrow by faith.
16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;
He changed Abrahams name from Abram to Abraham 25 years before it came true.
Abraham means the father of many.
for 25 years, every time Sarah called his name.....
For 25 years, every time he introduced himself....
But for 25 years he waited.
But faith, fixed his tomorrow!
