Intro.
Earnest Hemingway grasped some fo the difficulty that xharacterizes the relationships between fathers and sons in his shor story, The Capital of the World. The story revolves around a father and his teenage som, Paco, set in Spain. Paco was an extermly common name in Spain at that time. With desires to become a matador and to escape his fatherscontrol, Paco runs away to the Capitol (from which the title is derived) of Spain, Madrid. His father, deperate to reconcile with his son follows him to Madtid and puts an ad in a local news paper with a simple phrase:
“Dear Paco, meet me in front of thr Madrid newspaper office tomorrow at non. All is forgiven. I love you.”
Heminway then writes, “the next day at noon in front of the nespaper officether were 800 “Pacos” all seeking forgiveness.”
The world is full of people in need of forgiveness and reconciliation. The model for such forgiveness is most profoundly found in Jesus Christ.
We all experience guilt in one form or another.
We all seek forgiveness for one thing or another.
Acts 2:38 We all must repent if we are ever to find the forgiveness we seek.
