Revelation 21:1–7 NASB95
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” 5 And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. 7 “He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.

God has been at work since the beginning

Everything we see in the scripture is culminating to one big ending
It’s like a long drama that is working its way towards a finale

The different seasons

Just like a TV show with multiple season, the Heavenly drama has seasons. But each season is not to an end of its own, it’s all culminating unto something
Creation season
The heavens and the earth is created
The season reaches its climax with the creation of Adam and Eve.
God puts His hands into the dirt, molds them, and breathes His spirit into them.
Made in the image of the creator, everlasting God.
But the season end on a tragic note with Adam and Even sinning and is forced to leave the Garden.
Right before Adam and Eve left the Garden, a promise of hope is given to them by God.
That a Seed will come that will crush the Serpents head. This is the ultimate promise that all seasons are working towards.
And the first murder, Cain kills Abel.
Noah season
New season premiers and we see the world in havoc.
Every human being is doing whatever they want, there is no objective justice, everyone is to his own desires
God is very sad to see sin running rampant within His creation.
God finds Noah, one man who remained faithful to God and lived a holy life.
God floods the earth but saves Noah and his family.
Season ends with a rainbow as a sign of promise that God will never judge the creation with water.
Abraham season
God still has not forgotten the promise He gave to Eve.
Shows up to a sad childless man and makes a covenant with him
God will create a mighty nation from his seed and it will be a great blessing to the entire world (The promise to Eve is not forgotten!)
Gives to Abraham circumcision as a sign of this promise.
Season ends with Abraham living in the land of Canaan with a promised son named Isaac.
Jacob and Joseph season
New season premiers Isaac has grown old and has two sons, Jacob and Esau.
The Lord picks Jacob over Esau.
Jacob has twelve sons
Joseph, Judah, Benjamin, Levi, Reuben, Simeon, Asher, Zebulun, Issachar, Naphtali, Dan, and Gad
Jacob favors Joseph over all his others sons. And Joseph is this annoying kid who is kind of like the dad’s pet.
Older brothers sells Joseph into slavery. And Joseph ends up in Egypt.
With God giving Joseph divine ability to interpret dreams, Joseph rises to become 2nd in command of Egypt by the age of 30.
Land of Canaan and Egypt is met with severe famine for 7 years. But with divine wisdom, Joseph saves Egypt along with his family.
Jacob and his family settles in Egypt and lives a bountiful lives.
The Lord is moving through history to bring about that Seed that will crush and destroy sin and death.
