Introduction to Evangelism
Introduction to Evangelism
What evangelism is not:
It is not inviting someone to church.
It is not praying with someone.
It is not talking about religious ideas.
What is evangelism?
Evangelism is intentionally sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and inviting someone to take part in His gift of salvation.
What is the Gospel?
The Gospel is the message of Jesus’ birth (why He came), death (why He died), resurrection (why He’s alive), and return (why He’s coming back).
Why He came - God’s love and man’s sin (John 3:16; Rom. 3:10, 23)

Why He died - To take our punishment for sin (Rom. 5:8)
Illustration to use: A soldier who dies in combat
Why He’s alive - to offer us salvation from our sins. (Rom 6:23; 2 Cor. 5:21; Rom. 10:9)
Illustration to use: Has anyone ever done something for you to help? or Christmas gift
Why He’s coming back - Because He loves those who believe and to judge sin (John 3:18; John 14:1-3)
