Philippians 2:5–11 NKJV
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Christ is the temple, or phyisical body in which all the fullness of God dwells.
This temple has been highly exalted and been given the name that is above every name, the name of Jesus.
To better understand this Lets look at the temple Solomon Build
After he build the temple, he prayed and the Lord reposnded
1 Kings 9:3 NKJV
3 And the Lord said to him: “I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built to put My name there forever, and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.
Solomon build the temple and God put his name there
In the NT, God made his own temple, making is Word flesh and put his name there . The name Jesus.
Hebrews 1:4 NKJV
4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Becuase of this great name, everything in heaven and on the earth and under the earth is under his authority.
Isaiah 45:22–23 NKJV
22 “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other. 23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.
When we bow down to Jesus and confess him as our Lord with our tongue, we are not kneeling to another person, or to another God, we are kneeling and bowing God to the same Almighty of God Of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The Good news

This Name, has been given to us (the greatest gift)
Acts 4:10–12 NKJV
10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
We recieve remmision of sins through this name
Acts 2:38 NKJV
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 79:9 NKJV
9 Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name; And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins, For Your name’s sake!
Once God has given us his name, for that name’s sake he will provide atonement for our sins.
1 John 2:12 NKJV
12 I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
We are justified by this name,
1 Corinthians 6:9–11 NKJV
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
It is through the Power of the name of Jesus that we become totally Justified before God.
The name of jesus is so powerfull it is able to make someone who is unworthy to inherit the Kingdom of God to be worthy.
Through his name we receive things from God that we sure don’t deserve, We receive his mercy, his longsuffering, his inheritance when we desserved the opposite
The people of Israel
Ezekiel 20:5–10 NKJV
5 “Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On the day when I chose Israel and raised My hand in an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, I raised My hand in an oath to them, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God.’ 6 On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands. 7 Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, throw away the abominations which are before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’ 8 But they rebelled against Me and would not obey Me. They did not all cast away the abominations which were before their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said, ‘I will pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.’ 9 But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles among whom they were, in whose sight I had made Myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt. 10 “Therefore I made them go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.
They did not deserve to be brought out of the land of Egypt, nor for God to do all those mighty sign in their midst, what made them worthy was his name.
Ezekiel 20:41–44 NKJV
41 I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles. 42 Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I raised My hand in an oath to give to your fathers. 43 And there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed. 44 Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have dealt with you for My name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel,” says the Lord God.’ ”
God dealt with them for his name sake and not according to their works
God will deal with us aswell not according to our works but according to his name.
1 Samuel 12:16–22 NKJV
16 “Now therefore, stand and see this great thing which the Lord will do before your eyes: 17 Is today not the wheat harvest? I will call to the Lord, and He will send thunder and rain, that you may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of the Lord, in asking a king for yourselves.” 18 So Samuel called to the Lord, and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day; and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel. 19 And all the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to the Lord your God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins the evil of asking a king for ourselves.” 20 Then Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart. 21 And do not turn aside; for then you would go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing. 22 For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.
Samuel told them not to fear even though they had committed great wickedness in asking for a king,
However God would still not forake his people because of his great name sake.
This is the reason why Davd prayed the following prayer
Psalm 109:21 NKJV
21 But You, O God the Lord, Deal with me for Your name’s sake; Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.
God will refine and purify his people to make them vesssels prepaired for his purpose
Isaiah 48:9–11 NKJV
9 “For My name’s sake I will defer My anger, And for My praise I will restrain it from you, So that I do not cut you off. 10 Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. 11 For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; For how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another.
We have Victory over our enemies through this name
Luke 10:17–19 NKJV
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” 18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Our enemies are under our feet through this name
the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 19:11-20

What must we do

We must not profane the Name
Ezekiel 20:39 NKJV
39 “As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God: “Go, serve every one of you his idols—and hereafter—if you will not obey Me; but profane My holy name no more with your gifts and your idols.
Romans 2:20–24 NKJV
20 an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the form of knowledge and truth in the law. 21 You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal? 22 You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23 You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law? 24 For “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” as it is written.
We have to be careful in regards to our conducts among the Gentiles, lest we profane the name of our God by doing things that are contrary to his Word.
We must live out what we believe and teach.
2. Bear the name
Acts 9:12–16 NKJV
12 And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.” 13 Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.” 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel. 16 For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
Bear that name, endure the shame and affliction, persecution that comes because of that name. When you do this you are bearing the name
Matthew 10:22 NKJV
22 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
3. Hold fast to the name
Revelation 2:12–13 NKJV
12 “And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write, ‘These things says He who has the sharp two-edged sword: 13 “I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. And you hold fast to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days in which Antipas was My faithful martyr, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
Regardless of where we dwell, we must hold fast to that name
4. Do not deny His name
Revelation 3:7–9 NKJV
7 “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: 8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. 9 Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.
Matthew 10:33 NKJV
33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.
5. labour for the name
Revelation 2:1–3 NKJV
1 “To the angel of the church of Ephesus write, ‘These things says He who holds the seven stars in His right hand, who walks in the midst of the seven golden lampstands: 2 “I know your works, your labor, your patience, and that you cannot bear those who are evil. And you have tested those who say they are apostles and are not, and have found them liars; 3 and you have persevered and have patience, and have labored for My name’s sake and have not become weary.
Hebrews 6:10 NKJV
10 For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
We must not grow weary in labouring for the name of Jesus
Conclusion
Malachi 1:11 NKJV
11 For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; In every place incense shall be offered to My name, And a pure offering; For My name shall be great among the nations,” Says the Lord of hosts.
If his name is great in your life, stand up and give him glory
Psalm 86:12 NKJV
12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
