Since Jesus’ ascension the anticipation of believers has been
not just of being united with Him after death, BUT that He
would come back for us as He promised in John 14:1-3. The Holy
Spirit inspired Paul to further explain this event in 1 Thessalonians
4:13-18 and elsewhere.
