Part 8: Resurrection & Judgment

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Apostles’ Creed: “I believe in… the resurrection of the flesh, life everlasting.”

1.) We shall be resurrected.

• 1 Thess. 4:16-17, “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise…”
• 1 Cor. 15:22, “…For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”

2.) We shall be changed.

• 1 Cor. 15:50-52 “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God… the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”
• Phil. 3:21, “the Lord Jesus Christ… will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.”

3.) We shall be judged.

• Acts 17:31, “[God] has set a day when he will judge the world with justice…”
• Heb. 9:27, “people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”
• 2 Cor. 5:10
• Romans 14:10,12

4.) We shall live forever.

• 2 Thess. 1:6-10, “God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled… He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord.”
• Matt. 25:46, “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
