PRELUDE TO THE EASTER STORY

John 2:19
John 2:19 KJV 1900
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
By Way of Introduction allow me to show a passage of Scripture from 1 Corinthians 6:12-20
1 Corinthians 6:12-20
1 Corinthians 6:12–20 KJV 1900
12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body. 14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power. 15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
By Way of Introduction alow me to go to this passage in 1 Corinthians 6 : 12 -20 in particular verse 1 Corinthians 6 :19-20
1 Corinthians 6:19–20 KJV 1900
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
There are several things to note about this passage but it is not the focus of our message today.

But Allow us to note that the key thoughts from from these verses .

A. We belong to God we are his property.

B. We are united with God .

C. We are under his Command.

D. We are members of His Body.

The key thought is the reference to the Sins against the body in the Passage One very Challenging Study to do is the effect of Sin against the body in the particular Sexual Sins against the Body and their effect upon the Brain..

We do not have the time to do it today as it is not the main Focus of our message today.

Allow us to return to the passage in John 2: 12 -25
John 2:12–25 KJV 1900
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days. 13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, 14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. 17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up. 18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. 23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
In this passage we see a couple of things
I) THE REVEALED JESUS.
A. Manifested his GLORY.
JOHN 2:11
John 2:11 KJV 1900
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
This was the beginning of his ministry at Cana we see the private Ministry as we can note there was only friend and a few disciples at the Wedding feast.
But we see in v11 Jesus Manifested his GLORY .
He revealed Himself We will comment on this in a bit.

B. John 2:12 we see He made his way to Capernaum

John 2:12 KJV 1900
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
Up until Now we have seen only the PRIVATE ministry of jesus .
Now his PUBLIC ministry begins.
C. He went up to Jerusalem to the Passover
John 2:13
John 2:13 KJV 1900
13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem,

We will note Jesus spent a short time in Capernaum and then he went up to Jerusalem to the Passover.

# Allow us to note Here,

JESUS”S attendance to the Jewish feasts of the Law of Moses is very significant to note .

We already Know that Jesus did not come to destroy the Law but to fulfill it.

# Jesus REVEALED HIMSELF VERY EARLY IN HIS MINISTRY

A) HIS DEITY.

John 2:11
John 2:11 KJV 1900
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Manifested His Glory

B) HE DETAILED .

a. Purpose of the Old Testament Economy in his attendance to the feasts.

b. His relationship to them in his attendance

remember the Law is a schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ.

C) HIS DESTINY.

a. Cross

John 2:19
John 2:19 KJV 1900
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

Destroy this Temple

b. Resurrection

I will Raise it up in 3 days

The second thing to note in this passage .

II) REMEMBERED

A) HIS WORD

John 2:17
John 2:17 KJV 1900
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

The word of God What was written

# IF WE WANT TO REMEMBER THE WORD OF GOD .

THEN WE NEED TO Spend SOME TIME IN THE WORD.

Psalms 119:11
Psalm 119:11 KJV 1900
11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against thee.
Romans 10:17
Romans 10:17 KJV 1900
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
2 Timothy 2:15
2 Timothy 2:15 KJV 1900
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Just a few Verses

Some Questions we may ask ourselves Here

How much time do we spend in the WORD of God?

How often do we spend time in the Word of God?

When do we spend this time in the Word of God?

B) HIS WITNESS

John 2:22 KJV 1900
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

# if we want to remember his witness .

then we need to spend sometime with him

Just like in Life here upon this earth if we want to get to know someone then the best way is spend sometime with them .

SO IT IS YOU WANT TO KNOW THE saviour THEN SPEND SOME TIME WITH HIM.

How often do you just spend some time with Jesus?

Where Do you Go to spend this time?

When do you spend some time with Jesus?

C) HIS WAY

If we want to Remember HIS WAY

Then We need to WALK with Him. That is FOLLOW Him

You will notice that many believed on Him and as a result they walked with with HIM they followed

John 2:22
John 2:22 KJV 1900
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

III) RESURRECTION

A. POWER

Philippians 3:10
Philippians 3:10 KJV 1900
10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
Psalms 119:125
Psalm 119:125 KJV 1900
125 I am thy servant; give me understanding, That I may know thy testimonies.

B. PROMISE

I will Raise it up
John 2:20-21
John 2:20–21 KJV 1900
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
