Morning Is Coming

Scripture: Psalms 30:5
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.
· This verse concludes with a promise from God that joy comes in the morning! Your Morning is Coming!
· One thing we all have faced and realized is that at one point in time in life, we will face difficulties
o You can't avoid it
o it is a way of life
o That from time to time, you are going to face challenging moments
o Being a Christian and walking in the ways of the Lord does not mean you will not have challenging moments
o As a matter of fact, the enemy is going to try to attack you even more
o Becoming a Christian does not mean it will never rain in your life
· But when you have Christ in your life, He makes the difference
The superscription says that this is “a psalm … for the dedication of the temple,” written by David.[1]
And there is also some discussion that David is writing this at a time when God is disciplining him.
o You can count on God disciplining you when you're not doing what God told you to do
o David, in this text, is that a moment of a challenging time in his life
First Point in the text in verse 5 is: For His anger is but for a moment
o This text tells us that God does get angry, He does get upset at us, we can do things that will make Him angry.
o But one thing about God's anger that is different from our anger is that it's only for a moment
o Because when we get angry at people, we may not speak to them for weeks or months on in
o As a matter of fact, I've got angry at someone, and I took their name out of my phone book
o But I am so glad that we serve a God that when he gets angry at us, he never deletes our name out of His phone book
o The great news is God's anger is only for a moment, And the reason he can't stay angry at us for a long period of time because of the provision that was made for us through the blood of Jesus Christ.
o I thank God for the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross at Calvary
The good news is that when God gets angry, it doesn't last a lifetime because no matter where you are at today, what you are going through it's only for a moment
o God’s not trying to pay us back for what caused Him to be angry at us.
o If God were paying us back for our sins, we would be in a payback mode for the rest of our lives
o But thanks be to God; it’s only for a moment!
Second Point: His Favor is for life!
o God's favor is extended to us four our lifetime
o When God decides to give us favor, it's for our lifetime
o From the day we were born, God set aside favor that will last for a lifetime
o God will open doors for us; He will make a way out of no way… That’s His favor
o We will need God’s favor on our jobs… favor for when I do something I shouldn’t
o I need favor to deal with my family
o I need His favor when I get old
o I need His favor when my health is being challenged
o I need God’s favor!
o His favor makes me want to do right because I need His favor in the midst of my sinful life.
o Favor reminds me of the goodness of God
§ Thank you for my life
§ Thank you for my health
§ Thank you that You let me get up this morning in my right mind
§ Thank you for your grace and mercy
o Favor is for life!
o His anger is only for a moment
Point # Three: Weeping may endure for a night
o Have you ever had a weeping moment?
o The word weeping means to drip
o A dripping of tears
o It's from
o Painful times
o Heartaches
o Health issues
o The word endure means it only comes for a night… what that means is that it’s not moving in; it’s not permanent. It’s just a short visit… Because the morning is coming!
o Your Morning is Coming, and when the morning comes, joy is coming with it
o He'll wipe away your tears
o He'll change your situations around
o He’ll put a dance in your feet
o a clap in your hands
o a song on your heart, your morning is coming!
It's easy to shout when you got money in the bank; it's easy to shout when everything is going OK; anyone can shout when the doctor says you are cancer-free… But can you shout when the sun hasn’t come up yet in your life?
o But can you shout because you know tour morning is coming
o Victory is attached to it
o Deliverance is attached to it
o Peace is attached to it
o Whatever you have been praying for is attached to it
o I just want to remind you that you have God’s favor in your life
For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy is coming.
Thank you, God, for your favor and joy!
