By show of hands is there anyone in the house who knows that in life things change. And things can change overtime, but sometimes things change quickly. The songwriter said “time if full of swift transition.” One day you are well the next you are fighting for your life. One day you have a little extra money in your pocket, then the next car trouble(Run). And Jesus knows all to well this feeling He is at the height of his popularity and things are about to change.
The time is at hand for Jesus to die. He has come through 42 generations. Born of virgin, the house of David. Lived a sinless life helping the poor, marginalized, and down trodden. Reclaiming the sinner, condemning the his opponents, and leading his people. He effectively discipled, performed miracles, and disclosed the very heart of God. He has comforted the suffering, rebuked the rich, and question authority. And because of, and in-spite of all of that, he is going be crucified.

Providence the King Offers

I don’t know about you but even in the year 2021 I believe God is still a provider. I believe that God still can and will provide for us.
Jesus tells the disciples it was going to happen.
“the Lord has need of them”

Prophecy The King Fulfills

Jesus is Israel's rightful king and the writer of this gospel goes to great lengths to disclose that. The point of Jesus fulfilling prophecy is not to prove in some kind of way that Jesus is the messiah it does. It is not to prove the reliability of scripture although it does that. The fulfilment of prophecy is simply God’s way of keeping his promises and carrying out the work he began so many years before. God is saying the liberty I promised my people I am still working out. The blessings I promised my people are on the way.
First he came on a donkey, next time he’s riding a white horse
First he came lowly, next time he’s coming victorious
First he came and they shouted “hosanna”, next time we will shout, “hallelujah”
First he came to carry a cross, next time he carrying a sword
First he came to be tried, next time he’s coming to judge.
First he wore a crown of thorns, next time he wearing a crown of righteousness
First he wore a torn purple robe, next time he’ll be wearing a white robe dipped in blood.
First he came to be crucified, next time he’s coming to clear his name
First time he came as lamb to be lamb of God, next time he is the Lion of Judah
First he came die, next time he’s coming to resurrect the dead

Petition the King Receives

Hosanna! The cry that the crowd is making is a sound of praise and excitement and celebration and that is all and well. But, it is also a petition to “Save”. The way that it is introduced into the Hebrew culture is by way of a plead for God to save them from their enemies. Ps. 118 is what the people are quoting in part. So, it is not by chance that the expression was used to celebrate all the things God has done for us and for them. God has done many things that they are able to look back on. (List Times God has delivered Israel). We should always carry the same enthusiasm for celebration the times God has delivered us and saved us because if he has done it for Israel and for our ancestors he can work in our problems right now!
It’s in this same vein that he is misunderstood. Because as God had so many times delivered Israel from wars, or oppressors this crowd thought that Jesus was going to lead a revolution that would immediately overthrow Roman occupation of their land.

Praise the King Deserves

The scripture read earlier in the server from John let us know that there are some people in the crowd who know what Jesus has done. And more than that, there are some people who are in the crowd who Jesus has heald.
