Jesus knew who He was and what His purpose on earth was. He carried that knowledge through persecution and mistreatment, all the way to the cross. We find our security in who we are as we see His unwavering commitment to who He is.

Who Are You? ¿Quién es usted?

Who are you?
Are you just a sum of parts?
Do you have meaning or purpose?
Do you know how others see you?
How do you feel about yourself?

Life Description. Descripción de la vida.

You are fat!
You are too skinny!
You are ugly!
You’re so stupid!
You’re worthless!
You need “these” shoes to be somebody!
You want to be like “this actor” or actress
You should have been born a girl
You should have been born a boy
You are not enough
You are lazy!

Who are you IN CHRIST? ¿Quién eres EN CRISTO?

Beginning today, I pray over the next 8 weeks or so, that the Holy Spirit would show us who we are IN CHRIST.
During worship we sang Victory in Jesus - that IN CHRIST, I am Victorious.
We sang Hosanna - that in IN CHRIST, I am saved.
We sang Agnus Dei - glorifying God for who He is. Unless He is who He is, we cannot find our identity.

Palm Sunday Domingo de Palma

As you know, today is Palm Sunday.
It is the day we observe Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into the city.
Our passage comes from Mark 11: 1-11
Mark 11:1–11 NKJV
1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples; 2 and He said to them, “Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it. 3 And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it,’ and immediately he will send it here.” 4 So they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they loosed it. 5 But some of those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, loosing the colt?” 6 And they spoke to them just as Jesus had commanded. So they let them go. 7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. 8 And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ 10 Blessed is the kingdom of our father David That comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” 11 And Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the temple. So when He had looked around at all things, as the hour was already late, He went out to Bethany with the twelve.
Mark 11:1–11 RVR60

Christ Knew His Identity. Cristo Conocía su Identidad.

This might seem obvious, but remember that even at twelve Jesus knew His identity:
Luke 2:49 NKJV
49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”
Luke 2:49 RVR60
Even at 12, Jesus knew that He was purposed and placed on earth to do His Father’s business.
Remember that Jesus had to do this within His Humanity - not His deity.
FAST FORWARD to our original passage - There is something I want us to understand

The People Wanted a King but Needed a Savior.

Some wanted Jesus to be a carpenter, a healer, a miracle worker, overthrower of the government, king, and more.
Do you think there were pressures on Jesus to be something different than who He came to be?
Mark 11:7 NKJV
7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it.
Mark 11:7 RVR60
When Jesus sat on the donkey and rode into the city - He was fulfilling the prophecy in the Old Testament in
Zechariah 9:9 NKJV
9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.
Zechariah 9:9 RVR60
In fulfilling His Father’s business, Jesus was confident in His calling in who He was, and what He came for.

Confidence in the Calling. Confianza en el llamamiento.

John 3:16-17 explains the calling of Jesus in the purpose of His coming
Do you know that you were crafted with purpose?
Do you know that the Creator of the Universe crafted you with a Purpose and a Calling.
Over the next weeks, we will look our OUR purpose and calling, but today, I want us to focus on Jesus’ purpose.
Over the years, we have described the surrounding parts in the Triumphal Entry. But let’s go through it again.
They wanted a King to overthrow the Romans
He came as a Humble King - and did not go to the Palace as many probably thought
In verse 11, He went to the place where He was establishing His Kingdom - the Temple

Jesus Established His Kingdom over Your Heart. Jesús estableció Su Reino sobre tu Corazón.

The Bible calls Jesus the “second Adam”.
He brought into the World: Salvation, Redemption, Love, Hope, and more.
Think about the world around you. Think about how many are confused about who they are and who they are supposed to be.
Is Jesus’ Kingdom established in your heart?
You must accept Him as He is
He is riding in to establish His Kingdom - will you receive Him as He is?
Let’s Pray
