SPRING FEASTS (Picturing Christ’s First Coming)

Passover Feast. (Leviticus 23:4-8)

4 These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. 5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord’s passover. 6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. 7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein. 8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the Lord seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Unleavened Bread Feast. (Leviticus 23:4-8)

The Feast of First Fruits. (Leviticus 23:9-14)

9 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: 11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it. 12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord. 13 And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. 14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

The Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. (Leviticus 23:15-25)

*Occurred after a week of weeks (7 weeks – 49 days) after Passover on the 50th day.Jewish - Sivan 6 – Christian May-JuneOT – Moses receiving the Law.NT – Coming of the SPIRIT.

FALL FEASTS (Picturing Christ’s Second Coming)

5) The Feast of Trumpets. (Lev. 23:23-25)

Jewish - Tishri (Ethanim) 1 – Christian Sept/OctOT – Memorial trumpets were blown on the 1st day of the 7th month reminding Israel of the trumpets blown 7 times to command travel in the Wilderness Wanderings.NT – The Rapture. (1 Thess. 4:13-18)

6) The Day of Atonement. (Lev. 23:26-32)

Jewish - Tishri (Ethanim) 10 – Christian Sept/OctOT – National Atonement when the High Priest entered the Holy of Holies on the 10th day of the 7th month.NT – Prophetic – The Tribulation.
Christological – The Sacrifice of Christ. (Heb. 9:24)

7) The Feast of Tabernacles (Booths, Ingatherings). (Lev. 23:33-43)

Jewish - Tishri (Ethanim) 10 – Christian Sept/OctOT – Wilderness Wanderings (when Israel tabernacle with the Shekinah Glory Presence of God)NT – The Millennium when Israel will again dwell with God’s presence and when all the great soul harvest of the ages will be completed. (Rev. 20:1-6)

Comprehension of Pentecost. (Lev. 23:15-17)

15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: 16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord. 17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the Lord.

1) The Harvests. (Lev 23:15-16)

The beginning of the barley harvest.
The Feast of First Fruits.
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
B) “NEW” meat offering unto the Lord” vs. 16

Note: In Christ, we are the FIRST FRUITS unto God for God’s use only.

The Fundamentals. (Lev 23:17)

a. Dateless.

1. Shavuot means WEEKS – Feast of Weeks.i. Not long time.ii. 1 day.
2. Only Feast without a specific DATE for celebration.
3. Colossal.i. OT – Law brought together and organized a nation.ii. NT – Spirit brought together all nations into the body.
4. Confusing.
i. Forces Focus on PASSOVER to Celebrate Pentecost.
ii. Foundation of Life – Focus on Christ’s Death and Resurrection.

b. Two Loaves

Only place where 2 loaves are asked.
2 Witnesses in Agreement. (Deut 19:15)

Application: The CHURCH is a unique offering made up of 2 groups of people in unity presented in Christ Jesus.

c. LEAVEN

Pictures Sin, Unbelief, Hypocrisy, Insincerity.

Could not be offered in sacrifices. (Lev 2:11)

3. Now it is Mandated.
Application: We come to God as we are. Salvation is “as is”.

d. Fine Flour

Means crushed down, beat down, until perfectly consistent.
Highest grade flour used from the best part of the wheat grain.
Considered a luxury item used for sacrifices or in a king’s household.
Application: Trials, tribulations, and chastening in our life mold and shapes us to be CONFORMED to the image of Jesus Christ to be PRESENTED to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Application: One day, our works will be tried with fire to what sort it is.
