Leviticus 6:13 NKJV
13 A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.
Shadows and types
Profound ignorance of the OT.
Inspired the Moravian revival and 100 year prayer vigil in 1727
1800’s John Wesley and the holiness movement restored the use of the laver for cleansing and sanctification....
What goes up, must come down.
Revelation 8:3–5 NKJV
3 Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake.
Job 36:32–37:3 NKJV
32 He covers His hands with lightning, And commands it to strike. 33 His thunder declares it, The cattle also, concerning the rising storm. 1 “At this also my heart trembles, And leaps from its place. 2 Hear attentively the thunder of His voice, And the rumbling that comes from His mouth. 3 He sends it forth under the whole heaven, His lightning to the ends of the earth.
Seems to agree with God’s fire in Rev 8:3-5.
The Hebrew word translated as “strikes the mark” is paga.
This same word is translated as “intercesssion” in
Isaiah 59:16 NKJV
16 He saw that there was no man, And wondered that there was no intercessor; Therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; And His own righteousness, it sustained Him.
God laments that
A study of lightning in the Bible suggests that it is the anointed Word of God going forth from the mouth of the saints.
Like lightning to intercede and strike the mark
Routing our enemies and bringing the judgement of God.
Laying bare the hearts of men and fully accomplishing whatever God commanded it to accomplish.
The dynamic function of paga....
“Paints the targets” so God can zero in on areas of need with His Glory!
He set’s His gun sights on these targets and “Strikes the mark” with His lightning or displays of His brilliant presense.
2 Chronicles 7:1–3 NKJV
1 When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 And the priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord’s house. 3 When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying: “For He is good, For His mercy endures forever.”
