Week 2: Jesus values you
Week 3: Jesus welcomes you
We have been conducting a deep study on ONE chapter of the bible.
This chapter contains three parables that teach us what it means to be FOUND
Luke 15:20-24
Luke 15:20-24
Quick recap/context regarding the prodigal son
Last week I did not share the entire story with you… I intentionally left out a part of it so that we could study that part tonight, so lets read it
Luke 15:25-32
Luke 15:25-32
(v25) — His OLDER SON
We are talking about FAMILY here!
(v26-27) — This brother is so uninvolved
He has to send someone to tell him what the heck is going on...
Compare the involvement of the Father and the older son
(v28-30) — Just because someone else is celebrated, does not mean that you’re not valued.
(v31-32) — We should NEVER let our bitterness get in the way of someone else celebrating with the father
BECAUSE...
BECAUSE...
3 For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.
4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love for mankind appeared, 5 he saved us—not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy—through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. 6 He poured out his Spirit on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior
Regardless of how awesome you think you are, YOU HAVE BEEN THE PRODIGAL SON… and might be him tomorrow
5 he saved us—not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to his mercy—through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
No matter who you are, you are invited to the party by Jesus!
