Isaiah 6:3

Good evening everyone watching by video this evening,,, it's time for our weekly devotion.
I'm praying that all of you are having a wonderful week so far.
As I've said the last several weeks,,, we need to continue to remember those that are dealing with this virus.
Those that are sick,,, since there are many others dealing with this sickness as it continues to grow and,,, those that have lost loved ones,,, we need to continue to remember them as well.
Remember the medical teams that are dealing with this and any others that must work and take a chance of contacting this virus.
Also,,, continue to remember those on our prayer list,,, and our country and it’s leaders.
---------------
Our devotion this evening comes from Billy Graham's devotion titled "Unto the Hills, A Daily Devotional".
Our scripture will be Isaiah 6:3 and I'll be reading from the King James Version Bible.
Isaiah 6:3 (KJV 1900)
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: The whole earth is full of his glory.
God bless the reading and the hearing of your word this evening.
Let us pray:
Dear Lord,,, as we begin this evening,,, with all that are listening and watching by video,,, we ask that you open our ears to hear and our hearts and minds to receive the message that you have for us today,,, In Jesus' name I pray,,, Amen.
---------------
In this verse,,, Isaiah is experiencing the full effects of a vision that he was having.
In this part of the vision he was seeing the seraphim standing above the Lord,,, and one called to another these words: Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: The whole earth is full of his glory.
The vision produced deep conviction of sin in the prophet,,, then brought him to the place of confession.
We learn from John 12:39–41 that the King he saw was none other than the Lord Jesus
John 12:39–41 (HCSB)
39 This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said: 40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they would not see with their eyes or understand with their hearts, and be converted, and I would heal them. 41 Isaiah said these things because he saw His glory and spoke about Him.
We seem to have the same problem today,,, even as we are going into our Holy week which begins this Sunday when we experience Palm Sunday.
Billy Graham had titled this devotion: "HOLY, HOLY, HOLY"
He said that the Bible teaches that God is holy,,, without fault,,, perfect,,, and complete.
From the beginning of the Bible to the end,,, beginning in Genesis and all the way through to Revelation,,, God reveals Himself as a holy God.
He is so holy that He cannot endure sin,,, cannot even look upon it.
It was God’s holiness that caused Him to turn His back when the Lord Jesus Christ took upon Himself the sin of the entire world at Calvary.
It was the only time in the eternal unity of the Trinity that God the Father and God the Son had a rupture in their relationship.
Christ cried out on the cross, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?”
What a terribly frightening and horrible moment that was as the blackness of man’s sin caused the Father to turn away in disgust.
Yet,,, what a glorious moment it was,,, as Christ took upon His holy and sinless self,,, all of the penalty that should be ours because of our sinfulness.
And now,,, God commands us to be holy as He is.
But how can we be holy?
When we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior,,, He comes into our hearts and lives,,, cleanses us from sin,,, and makes a home in us.
At that moment we begin to grow into the likeness of Christ (theologians call the process “sanctification”), and we continue to grow until that moment when we go to be with Christ and receive our glorified bodies.
How thankful we should be that it was Christ who made all of this possible!
Our Father and our God, I know You are holy and cannot endure my sinfulness. And yet I know You love me in spite of my weaknesses because of the sacrifice Your Son made on the cross for me. Thank You, Father, for Your beautiful Son. Thank You for saving me through Him. Amen,
