Kenosis
Kenosis
From the Greek work Kenoo
Means “to make empty”
Kenosis is a hotly debated theological concept surrounding Jesus’s incarnation.
The Kenosis of Jesus is the “Self-emptying” we see on display when Jesus gives up everything that comes with Being God in heaven, and takes on flesh through the incarnation. It also refers to the full self-emptying we see on display through Jesus christ on the Roman Cross.
The place we see this concept talked about most clearly and succintly about is in Philippians chapter 2:6-11 which is where we will spend the bulk of our time here this mornning.
Welcome back to our series called White Flag here at Renew Church. We’re glad you’re joining us for another sunday morning talking about the concept of surrender and what role it plays in the life of a christian.
This morning we’re going to hone in on Jesus’s perfect examply of surrender in order to identify what we can learn from Jesus Re:Surrender as well as what example we’re called to follow as diciples of Jesus.
Before we jump back to our text in philippians, i want to help you understand what’s going on in this text we’re looking at this morning.
