The Importance of Prayer

Why is prayer important to you? Vital to the life of the believer, preachers shouldnt preach longer than you pray, worship leaders need prayer, prohpets need prayer, teacher’s need prayer, those in business, education, family services, government, law, media, EVERYONE needs a prayer life.
Philipians 4:6 - Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
1 Thessolonians 5:17 pray without ceasing;
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
We do hit moments when our prayer meter is low and we feel as though it is harder to pray, or we are not seeing as many results in our prayer life, so we must address some areas to evaluate in order to fix this issue.

Impure Motives (Matt. 6:5-8 NASB)

“When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
6 “But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
7 “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words.
8 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.
I am afraid prayer has become a sport, nothing wrong with prayer services but picking the “who’s who” of intecessors.

Unrepented Sin

Psalm 66:16 Come and hear, all who fear God,
And I will tell of what He has done for my soul.
17 I cried to Him with my mouth,
And He was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard wickedness in my heart,
The Lord will not hear;
19 But certainly God has heard;
He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.

Unforgiveness

Mark 11:25-26 Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.

Pride

Matthew 18:15-19 ESV
