Boff: “The resurrection uncovers the absolute meaning of the messsage of the kingdom, and of Jesus’ life and death. It is the definitive triumph of life and of hope for a reconciled kingdom in which universal peace is the fruit of divine justice and the integration of all things in God. The resurrection has to be seen as full liberation from all of the obstacles standing in the way of the lordship of God and the full realization of all they dynamic forces for life and glory placed by God within human beings and the whole of creation.”
“The resurrection also, and especially, reveals the meaning of the death of the innocent, of those who are rejected for having proclaimed a greater justice — God’s justice — and of all those who, like Jesus, support a good cause and are anonymously liquidated…Those who have been unjustly put to death in a good cause share in his resurrection”
Liberation Theology, p 54-55.
Brueggemann: “The resurrection can only be recieved and affirmed and celebrated as the new action of God, whose province is to create new futures for people and to let them be amazed in the midst of despair.”
Prophetic imagination, p. 112.
