Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James:

To those who are the called, loved, by God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ.

What does it mean to be a servant of Jesus Christ?

δοῦλος, ου, ὁ (Trag., Hdt.et al.; ins, pap, LXX, Philo, Joseph., Test12Patr)

① male slave as an entity in a socioeconomic context, slave (‘servant’ for ‘slave’ is largely confined to Biblical transl. and early American times [s. OED s.v. servant, 3a and b]; in normal usage at the present time the two words are carefully distinguished [Goodsp., Probs., 77–79]). Opp. ἐλεύθερος 1 Cor 7:21. Lit., in contrast

21 Were you called while a slave? Don’t let it concern you. But if you can become free, by all means take the opportunity.

A slave would want freedom but a servant can go free stays to work for their master....
What does it look like to be called by God?

κλητός, ή, όν (s. καλέω; Hom.; Aeschin. 2, 162; Aelian, NA 11, 12; PAmh 79, 5; LXX; Hippol., Ref. 5, 6, 7) pert. to being invited, called, invited to a meal (3 Km 1:41, 49; 3 Macc 5:14) in imagery of invitation to the kgdm. of God Mt 22:14

22 Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables: 2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. 3 He sent his servants to summon those invited to the banquet, but they didn’t want to come. 4 Again, he sent out other servants and said, ‘Tell those who are invited: See, I’ve prepared my dinner; my oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’

5 “But they paid no attention and went away, one to his own farm, another to his business, 6 while the rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them. 7 The king was enraged, and he sent out his troops, killed those murderers, and burned down their city.

8 “Then he told his servants, ‘The banquet is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. 9 Go then to where the roads exit the city and invite everyone you find to the banquet.’ 10 So those servants went out on the roads and gathered everyone they found, both evil and good. The wedding banquet was filled with guests. 11 When the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed for a wedding. 12 So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ The man was speechless.

13 “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

14 “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

Effectual calling is the means by which God brings his elect into the experience of salvation in Christ.
Ac 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children, and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Ro 8:30 And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.
Ro 9:24 on us, the ones he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles?
1 Co 1:2–9 To the church of God at Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called as saints, with all those in every place who call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord—both their Lord and ours. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I always…
God does the calling, the Believer does the responding via the Holy Spirit.
It is the Holy Spirit that empowers you to respond to God’s calling and seals you in the acceptance of that calling into faith upon acceptance of Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
God chose you, you didn’t choose God. What you chose was to be a slave (bound by force always looking for a way to runaway, only doing just because of an unhealthy fear for the master) or your chose to be a servant (one who will stay with his master by choice because of love, care and affection)
What does being loved by God look like?
John 3:16–18 CSB
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God.
Agape- God’s unconditional love.
What does being kept for Jesus look like?
Why would God have to keep you for Jesus
John 10:27–29 CSB
My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
John 17:6–8 CSB
“I have revealed your name to the people you gave me from the world. They were yours, you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me is from you, because I have given them the words you gave me. They have received them and have known for certain that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me.
