Mark 5:18–20 NIV
As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
Introduction: Disciples are called to be Witnesses of Jesus. How can we be Witnesses of Jesus?
My Testimonies:
In Jr. High I couldn’t find a group to belong.
But now I belong.
Because Jesus Adopted me as his beloved child.
There are many ways that....

10 - Jesus Saves

We have talked about Disciples dropping nets, leaving their jobs, not living in a home, not going to their father’s funeral, and not being able to go home to say goodbye to their family.
But in this story Jesus does the opposite.
1. In Mark 5, we read the story of Jesus and his disciples traveling by boat to a region called Gerasenes. As soon as they got out of their boat, a demon-possessed man greeted them. This person, who lived isolated among the tombs, had been in bondage and torment for years. He possessed such an incredible strength that no person could keep him in shackles. He would simply break the chains in pieces. Throughout the day and night, he walked about the tombs and mountains, crying out and cutting himself because of the anguish he was always in (Mark 5:1–5).
He has a story of Salvation.
Jesus freed him from harm, from evil, destroying himself and others. He does not yet realize that Jesus will free him from his sins yet.
We may actually have multiple stories of salvation.
We may have had encounters with Jesus where.
He Healed us physically.
He changed our mind.
He changed our emotions.
He reconciled us with someone we were at odds with.
I know people who have had demons expelled from them.
He helped us overcome an addiction. or self-destructive behavior
We went from not knowing him to having a relationship with him.
From alone to belonging.
We may have multiple testimonies of Jesus’ work in our life.
1. The newly delivered man wanted to follow Jesus by sticking close to him, but Jesus wanted the man to follow him by returning home to be his disciple and witness there. Sometimes we want Jesus to call us to exciting adventures, to follow him on amazing missions. Sometimes he does, but sometimes he calls us to follow him in the “normal.” God’s purpose is always that we would image and represent him wherever we are, even in the ordinary routines of life: our homes, schools, work, communities, and organizations. I
Maybe the cost for this man was to go back to his family. That is what he is afraid of, because of all of the hurt and pain of the past. It would be much easier to go with Jesus.
Jesus has a reason - He is going to come back and crowd of 4,000 - (Those who were amazed by this man’s story this man’s testimony) want to meet this Jesus.
We to are called to give witness.

11 - Disciples Share Their Story of Salvation.

This man’s story -
Is Brief
Highlight’s God’s Presence and Power - “Casts out Demons”/God’s Mercy
Clear Before and After Picture - Out of Control/In His right mind.
The Source of Life and Transformation - Jesus
12 - Mary’s Testimony - https://youtube.com/watch?v=HRlUdfoSAqA - End at 3:35
13 - “I was one way
And now I am completely Different
And the Thing that happened in between was him.”
14 - Another one of my testimonies:
I used to think God did not heal or cast out demons anymore.
But Now I know He still heals and delivers.
Because I saw him do it with many people.
Write your testimony
What was the way you were?
How are you completely different?
What did Jesus Do in the middle?
15 - Conclusion: Challenge Practice sharing these stories with someone you trust so you are ready to share it when the opportunity arises.
