Pre-Sermon IceBreaker
Pre-Sermon IceBreaker
Right next to the hospital there is a cemetary. As I was leaving work the other day. Three teenage girls walked up to me and explained that they were really scared to walk past the cemetary at night, so I agreed to let them walk along with me. I told them. “I understand…I used to be freaked out too when I was alive.” Never seen anyone run that fast!!
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord;
Trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

I was watching my son Buddy play one of his video games the other day. In the game the character is faced with a number of obstacles. He climbs up the side of buildings, walks across roofs, tightrope walks across phone lines, etc.
It struck me that the game was kind of a metaphor of real life. Everyday we face obstacles. Disappointments, Addictions, Trials, Tribulations, etc.
The difference of course, is that in real life we can’t just shimmy up the side of a building and tightrope walk across a phone line.
But there are some things we can do to overcome life’s obstacles.
B the month of March our theme has been Service. Last Sunday our Scripture Memory verse was
8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good;
And what doth the Lord require of thee,
But to do justly, and to love mercy,
And to walk humbly with thy God?
Psalm 37 is another of the Alphabetic, or acrostic, psalms. The subject matter of the psalm is the age old question, “Why do the wicked prosper, when the righteous are afflicted? We will see that it is actually the Believer, not the wicked who prosper. We will see three steps to overcoming Life’s Obstacles.
Commit Thy Way
Commit Thy Way
Hebrew = Galal
Means to roll, to roll away, to roll down.
3 Commit thy works unto the Lord,
And thy thoughts shall be established.
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee:
He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Trust Also in the Lord
Trust Also in the Lord
Hebrew = Batach
To have confidence in.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses:
But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
5 Every word of God is pure:
He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
And He Shall Bring it to Pass
And He Shall Bring it to Pass
19 God is not a man, that he should lie;
Neither the son of man, that he should repent:
Hath he said, and shall he not do it?
Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
10 I am the Lord thy God,
Which brought thee out of the land of Egypt:
Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

What is it that is tripping you up? What stands between you and success? Don’t you wish you could just shimmy up the side of building or tiptoe across a phone line? Well in a sense maybe you can. Maybe it is even easier than that.
Commit thy way unto the Lord
Trust also in the Lord
And He shall bring it to pass
It begins with a personal relationship with him. Do you know Jesus as your Savior....
