He Did It Out Of Love

Matthew 20:28 NCV
28 In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served. He came to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many people.”
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith! In Jesus Name!
Intro:
True love was demonstrated by Jesus Christ in three amazing acts.
The first act was...

a. The act of coming to earth:

"The Son of Man came." The incarnation is the Son of God becoming man.
Most men look upon mankind as the pinnacle of creation on this earth.
But within the span and scope of the universe and the dimension of the spiritual world, and in particular before God,
man is only as a speck of sand on the beach or a drop of water in the ocean.
On average, we live about seventy years - if we can.
But in reality, for God to become a member of so low a race of beings is unimaginable.
For God, It is the most humiliating act possible.
The second amazing act of Jesus was

The act of ministering: "

Matthew 20:28 NKJV
28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Jesus came not to be ministered to, but to minister."
And still He was treated as the lowest of creatures by the men to whom He came to serve.
He did not have a place to lay his head
Matthew 8:20 NKJV
20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”
Luke 9:58 AMP
58 And Jesus told him, Foxes have lurking holes and the birds of the air have roosts and nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.
Then three years after publically announcing that He had come to save them, they crucified Him.
Please understand that Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords, because received His kingdom by becoming a servant to all.
Jesus did not lord over men and women
Jesus ministered men and women
Jesus served men and women
Jesus became a servant to all
Philippians 2:8 The Message
8 Having become human, he stayed human. It was an incredibly humbling process. He didn’t claim special privileges. Instead, he lived a selfless, obedient life and then died a selfless, obedient death—and the worst kind of death at that—a crucifixion.
The third amazing act of Jesus was

The act of giving His life as a ransom for many!

Ransom for many
Jesus was a ransom in exchange!
Jesus was the ransom or payment for many lives
Jesus was the ransom or payment for many souls
Jesus was the ransom instead of the many
Ransom is a payment to set loose
Exodus 21:30 The Message
30 If a ransom is agreed upon instead of death, he must pay it in full as a redemption for his life.
This ransom required death!
Jesus death was the ransom price
Jesus death was the redemptive price
Jesus death was the setting loose price
Jesus death was the price for freedom

He Did It Out Of Love

Jesus gave His life in exchange, in the place of or as a substitute for many.
This is why we are in right standing with God because of the ransom work of Jesus
Romans 5:1 NLT
1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

He Did It Out Of Love

But here is what’s crazy
Not everyone will receive the offer that he was the substitution or the ransom for their life!
1 Timothy 2:5 NCV
5 There is one God and one mediator so that human beings can reach God. That way is through Christ Jesus, who is himself human.
1 John 2:2 NCV
2 He died in our place to take away our sins, and not only our sins but the sins of all people.
So we celebrate the good news that Jesus Christ has met the need and provided the ransom price for every man and woman, but everyone has to accept the offer of the ransom in their own behalf.
Jesus Christ has made provision, but anyone can reject the offer of ransom. And sadly some do.

That’s why Scripture speaks of Jesus dying "for all" and also "for many."

He died for all in that He has made provision for all to be saved, but He died for many in that only some will receive the offer of the ransom.

He Did It Out Of Love

There is the idea of sacrifice in the word ransom.
In fact, that is just what ransom is.
It is the sacrifice, the giving up of something for something else.
Something is substituted and sacrificed for something else. T
his is exactly what Jesus Christ did for us. He sacrificed and gave Himself up as a ransom for you and me!
Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

He Did It Out Of Love

Revelation 1:5 NCV
5 and from Jesus Christ. Jesus is the faithful witness, the first among those raised from the dead. He is the ruler of the kings of the earth. He is the One who loves us, who made us free from our sins with the blood of his death.
He Did it out of love
1 Peter 1:18–19 NLT
18 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.
He did it out of love
2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT
15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
He did it out of love
Hebrews 10:12 NLT
12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
Hebrews 10:14 NCV
14 With one sacrifice he made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
He did it out of love
1 Peter 2:24 NCV
24 Christ carried our sins in his body on the cross so we would stop living for sin and start living for what is right. And you are healed because of his wounds.
