It is Finished

After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. When Jesus had received the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
When you think of the word Finished .....what comes to your mind?
Some of us may think of something being complete.....or that something is over.
Some of us may think about work....on a Friday .....when you have completed all the work you needed to do....for that week.....You are finished and ready to go......
We may think of coming to the end of something....like you finished reading a book....
Whether you think of the word finished as something being complete.....something is over.....or you are past it......
It’s good to know when Jesus spoke these final words .......that it wasn’t over.....
Yes the Greek word for It’s finished in this text.......
is TA LAY O.......
and it means .... to fulfill one’s word....to grant in full....to bring to fulfilment or perfection.....and I believe that is true for Jesus’ ministry......
You see Jesus said.....It is finished......but in actuality it was really the beginning.....
You see although Jesus was finished with His purpose....for coming down to earth......He was finished with His ministry....... He was finished with showing the world How we are to love one another.....He was finished......teaching us how we should treat our neighbor.......
It was really the beginning for all the disciples that would follow after Jesus...
My Brothers and Sisters as we come together to Praise God for this Good Friday.....the day we recognize that Christ went to the Cross at Calvary ....and died for our sins.......
Let me suggest that we have been given the mission that Jesus finished over 2000 years ago......
I believe my Brothers and Sister that at the Cross..... Jesus finished His mission on earth in the physical form, but He has called us to love one another.....treat one another right......to help one another......to forgive one another.....
In the Bible, we read a lot of stories about Jesus’ ministry. He healed the sick and performed miracles. But what we often fail to see are the lessons he is trying to teach us through those acts.
Let’s not forget that Jesus is a teacher – one of the greatest there is. He used parables and stories to teach us about the kingdom of God. But his greatest method is teaching by example.
His deeds taught us about many Christian values, such as kindness and compassion. He raised children from the dead out of pity for their parents and accepted disciples from all walks of life. Most important of all, he gave up his life so all of us can be saved.
Jesus taught us about kindness and compassion.....
The Bible tells us....
When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” – Matthew 8:1-4
Jesus, taking pity on the leper, healed him of his disease. He didn’t see the man as a leper but a human being who was sick and needed his help.
Through this, Jesus taught us that kindness should go beyond social stereotypes. We should look at where they’re coming from and understand their circumstances. Only then can we develop genuine compassion.
Jesus said....It is finished…we as His disciples have to be the example of His compassion.....
If we are out here gossiping about this person....talking about that person.....are we really being the disciples that Jesus called us to be.....
Amen somebody...
In spite of his death, Jesus still found it in him to heal the man who arrested him. Even while hanging on the cross, he still managed to ask his father to spare the people who’ve hurt him because they don’t know what they are doing.
Forgiving those who’ve done us wrong is one of the greatest acts of kindness you can do – not only for others but for yourself too. You give your enemies the chance to redeem themselves and yourself the opportunity to heal.
Jesus died on the Cross.....
He paid it all......
We have no sin debt .....because He paid the ultimate sacrifice....
We have Salvation.......be cause Jesus Paid It All...
That Sin debt.....PAID
Those Past Mistakes.....PAID
The anger you’re holding on to.....PAID
The Hurt you’re harboring......PAID
The Regret that you keep remembering.....PAID..
The shame that Satan tries to sabotage you with.....PAID
It’s finished......PAID in full.....and you don’t need to worry about .....any unpaid balances....... any interest accruing .......any outstanding debt.......Because.......Jesus said........It’s finished.....
The Bible reminds us Romans 6:23.....The wages of sin is death....but the free gift of God is eternal Live in Christ Jesus Our Lord
