Empty

He as risen! The tomb was empty. What does this mean for us? Did Jesus really rise from the dead? Was that tomb really empty on that Sunday morning the first day of the week?

This morning we are going to try to answer some of the question if not all of them

If you have your bible please turn to 1 Corinthians 15:20-28. If you do not have your bible the passage will be on the screen in a few minutes.

The first 19 verse of 1 Corinthians Paul wrote about people have doubts that Christ really did rise for the died and who saw the risen Savior. You see it wasn’t just a couple of people. In fact, it over 500 that he appeared to too!

We look at this Thursday night but I thought it was so good not to repeat it again this morning. Do you remember who the first people were to see that Jesus was raised? I read that passage this morning.

Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were the first to see that Jesus had be raised for the did. Why my you ask is this important that two women were the first. In those day women had no say. In fact, their testimony couldn’t even been used in court of law. They were treated has nothing. Yet, they were the first to see that Jesus had been raised. He has risen indeed!

1 Corinthians 15:20–28 CSB

20 But as it is, Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man. 22 For just as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ, the firstfruits; afterward, at his coming, those who belong to Christ. 24 Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he abolishes all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he puts all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be abolished is death. 27 For God has put everything under his feet. Now when it says “everything” is put under him, it is obvious that he who puts everything under him is the exception. 28 When everything is subject to Christ, then the Son himself will also be subject to the one who subjected everything to him, so that God may be all in all.

Jesus was the first-fruits

The term first-fruits come from the primary observances that God laid out for the Israelite people in Leviticus 23:10. The Israelite were to give to God all of the first-fruits of the new crop of food for that year. This took a lot for the Israelites to do because that had to trust in God that we would continue to provide after this first crop was given to God.

Paul used this term of first-fruits because Jesus was the First-fruits of concerning sin and death.

All are sin

Sin came into the world with Adam and Eve when they took the fruit that God commend them not to take. This vase here is sin. The black cold darkness.

We are all die because of sin. This vase here is you and I. God plans for us was to keep us pure and clean like you see here but because of sin we are no longer clean. God cant look at sin. The sin. What can we do? Not much. Christ

1 Corinthians 15:24 CSB

24 Then comes the end, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father, when he abolishes all rule and all authority and power.

Jesus is rule of all

Jesus is the only thing that can wash way sin. When sin vase is poured into Jesus vase. Sin disappears. God gave Jesus the authority and power to rule all until Dead and sin is finally concerted at the end.

We all have a choice

You see the vase that you and me is still black with sin. A few minutes ago I ask what can we do? We do have a choice. When we expect Christ. When we ask him to full our life with is prefect life. When we allow him to rule of every area of our life some grand happens. We to become clean and pure once more. We are in a place were God can look upon us once more.

The tomb is empty!

Jesus’s resurrection defeats death and guarantees our future resurrection.
