4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
Salvation message- “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? John 20:14
Every man is asked this question.... Why are you broken and Who are you seeking?
Weirsbe:
“God’s love for us is unique. This verse in 1 John 3, can be translated as, Behold what peculiar, out-of-this-world kind of love the Father bestows on us.”
While we were his enemies he loved us and sent His son to die for us.
In view of the return of Jesus Christ, we should keep our lives clean. All this reminds us of the Father’s love. He invites us to dwell with Him- this is His desire.
Example of this love:
A group of teens were out partying and they had plans to go to a certain restaurant for a further good time. Jan explained she would rather the group just take her home. Jan explained that her parents do not approve of the desired destination they were planning on going to. The group began to make fun of Jan and asked if her father will hurt her for going to such a place. She explained, no, I am not afraid that my father will hurt me, but that I will hurt my Father.
She understood the principle that a true child of God, who has experienced the love of God, has no desire to sin against that love.
31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.
