Introduction/Recap Introducción / Resumen

Welcome to Redemption Church. For those visiting with us today, we are happy to have you join us.
We just started a series titled, In Christ, I am - finding our identity IN CHRIST.
Last week we looked at the Triumphal entry of Jesus and learned that many wanted to change Jesus’ purpose and change his identity.
Some called him:
Prophet
Teacher
Master
King
While these were portions of His ministry, they did not define Him. Jesus is Emmanuel - God with Us. Think about that outside of Christmas. Sin separated us from God and because God so loved the world (John 3:16), He sent His Son to be “God with Us”.
We also learned that Jesus’ Identity is God - His purpose was to save us (John 3:17). He did this by establishing His kingdom - in His people. In You and me. His Kingdom will never end. His purpose is why we have Redemption in Christ - the forgiveness of our sins.
>>After service, Pastor Adriana and I have a special gift for each family. We hope to have enough for everyone and will make more if we run out. It is just a reminder that our Redemption is IN CHRIST.

In CHRIST, i am: Raised to Life En CRISTO, soy: Resucitado

This resurrection Sunday, the title of this sermon is - In Christ, i am: Raised to Life
To understand this, we need to understand why we need to be raised to life. For many here, this will be a reminder of what you already know - but don’t fall asleep on me - We need the constant reminder of our need for Jesus. For this we need to go all the way back to the garden.
Genesis 3:6 recounts the point where Adam and Eve rejected God’s authority, disobeyed Him, and ate the fruit. It only took 2 chapters in the beginning of Humanity’s story - for people to mess things up.
We see in the following verses that Adam and Eve have to confront God and of course Adam blames Eve (is that sin #2?) :)
Then in verse 14 of Chapter 3 and throughout the rest of the OT, God is promising the Savior - Redemption from the fall and the consequence of sin. The problem for Adam and Eve was not physical death. Rather, this was a spiritual death that passed on from generation to generation.
Sin Separates us from God.
Since then, we were all born in a state of disobedience - separated from having the relationship God had with Adam and wants to enjoy with all of us. But Sin keeps us from being the way He intended us to be.
Paul talks about his in his letter to the Church in Ephesus. Would you open your Bibles to the book of Ephesians. Chapter 2.
Ephesians 2:1–3 NKJV
1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
Ephesians 2:1–3 RVR60
And You (Christian, Believer), He (Jesus) made (something He did) Alive (no longer dead)
Before Jesus made you alive - you were dead in trespasses and sins.
There are two things happening here.
Taking us out from darkness (Out of Death)
Bringing us in to the light (Into Life)
Example: God, through Moses, brought the children of Israel out of slavery and captivity, and brought them into the promised land.
You must believe that you were in Sin and in need of a Savior to find any joy in the Resurrection of Jesus.
Colossians 2:11–14 NKJV
11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Colossians 2:11–14 RVR60

Jesus paid our penalty for Sin Jesús pagó nuestra pena por el pecado

In order for Jesus to provide the redemption, freedom, salvation - for you and me, he had to suffer. He had to go through so much - and had to die to pay the price.
With His death we are forgiven - With His resurrection, we are made alive in Christ.
Philippians 3:10–11 NKJV
10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Philippians 3:10–11 RVR60
10 a fin de conocerle, y el poder de su resurrección, y la participación de sus padecimientos, llegando a ser semejante a él en su muerte, 11 si en alguna manera llegase a la resurrección de entre los muertos.
Jesus’ PHYSICAL death was to pay our SPIRITUAL consequence.
Jesus’ PHYSICAL resurrection was to allow us to walk in SPIRITUAL life.
_________________________________
The desire of Paul to know Jesus was in both the power of His resurrection - and the fellowship of His suffering.
We must die to our sinful desires in order to enjoy the new life that He gives
***There are people today that want their sinful desires AND eternal life. Yet they are unfulfilled and say that it Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection was not enough for them.
The problem is, they want Abundant life, outside of Christ. They want the gift of eternal life, but they don’t want a cross.
Matthew 16:24–25 NKJV
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
Matthew 16:24–25 RVR60
Your cross, is not the same as my cross. I could not carry yours, and you could not carry mine. The sacrifice Jesus’ calls me to is the very thing that keeps me from Him. That may be different than what you are going through.
If you only see “I AM RAISED TO LIFE”, you will find quickly that it is empty.

Your identity is found in Jesus death Tu identidad se encuentra en la muerte de Jesús

Until you recognize that your sin has caused you to feel lost and in the dark, you cannot be free.
Only in Christ, your identity changes and you are raise to life IN CHRIST.
