New announcements Bible studies the men's bible study on Tuesday morning is active as far as I know. So if you would like to attend, please we are going to have a Bible study here in Philippians on Wednesday night at 6. So those two studies are still going next week is the board meeting. So if you're on the board or you just like to attend, you're welcome to come. We have a few things to go through. So please make sure you're there. Next week is the dedication week. So come and enjoy that then the following week is the baptism week. We're going to have at least one.

Third the idea of being baptized and you would like to talk about it. Please see me after the service and you can participate in that baptism as well. Remember that this is fellowship time after the service today where you are heating the pots up as we speak so via ready to stick around and enjoy some fellowship. That's one of the keys to a great church is a fellowship they have together and so enjoy that Notice the wonderful flowers that are given each week. On the evening of the freak when the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders. Jesus came and stood among them and said peace be with you. After he said this he showed them his hands inside the disciples were Overjoyed when they saw the Lord again. Jesus said peace be with you as the father has sent me. I am sending you and with that he breathed on them and said receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone sins their sins are forgiven. If you do not forgive them. They are not forgiven. We're going to take a look at Jesus Christ and his first visit to the disciples after the resurrection and we'll take a look at what he has to say for us and these passages. Let's pray.

Dear father in Heaven. Joyful, it is to come before you for father. We know you abide in those who have called upon you that is one of the great gifts that occurred after the resurrection was the giving of the spirit to live and dwell in each person who loves you and so father we cry out to you and ask that the spirit of God would be here in Mighty power and mighty strength as we worship you the Living God. We do pray that you would be with those who do not know you Father we have hearts that are heavy. Because of those who have not chosen to come to you and receive the Eternal gift of Salvation that is offered through believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and so we pray for our neighbors are family members.

Our friends that have gone astray. And are bound in the wrong direction. May we be a true testimony to their lives to your life to them that they might come to know you. And receive that salvation. father we do also want to pray for the needs that are on the hearts and lives of the people here that

haven't stated openly but there are burdens that we have burdens for other people burdens for the needs of Our Lives burdens for the struggles that we face. May you be with each one as they contemplate them and if they really raise them up to you in this prayer. Father May Hearts be comforted and may true peace abide in each life as they cry out to you be with us. Now as we continue this wonderful celebration of your Resurrection. Thank you Lord, because you do if you are risen and weary rejoicing that and praise your name and be with us now as we come before you with communion to remember. Remember what you have done that you shed your blood to cover our sin that you live a life that is worthy of emulating that you truly are the bread that sustains us lesson this time of Lord in Jesus name. Amen. And truly that is what community has its really taking a look at what Christ has done for us that we have a hope for all eternity because of that work done on the cross, you know in Jesus gave us that picture in each of the gospels. But we also see it in the epistle that Paul wrote to the Corinthians and it's a picture that God wants us to take with us and remember over and over again because it is as we stated that the sunrise service this morning the greatest event. It is ever happened in the lifetime of mankind. There's no other event that even comes close because it is truly the event the only event that can change your Eternal Destiny. The only one you're going to live for all eternity.

And you're only going to live happily if you trust in Jesus Christ. Otherwise, it says there is death and destruction ahead of you. And that's not the way you want to live eternity. Luke chapter 22 verses 19 and 20 Jesus States these words as he gives the first communion. He says any took a bread gave thanks and broke it and he gave it to them saying this is my body given for you do this in remembrance of me. In the same way after the separate took the cup saying this cup is the New Covenant in my blood which is poured out for you. And you saying that to each and everyone of us? That blood was poured out for you and for me for every one of us whether we believe it or not. It was still that poured out for you. But the big staff is there truly believe and receive the gift that he wants to give.

Where to take communion now, and if you believe in Jesus Christ as your lord and savior, I welcome you to join us in that communion. But before we do, so we're going to take just a minute for you to go before the Lord and make sure that you feel clean before him so confess to him. So take this.

Grace's father. We thank you that we have forgiveness when we come before you. You always forgive you never say no. That wasn't that was too bad for me to forgive. You always forgive and we thank you and praise you and now father. We want to remember you by taking the bread. It represents the bread of life. That is Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior and the cop which represents the blood of Christ. It was poured out to cover. every sin bless us as we take it over lord Our God in Jesus name. Amen.

We're going to be talking about the power that you and I have as we trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and that's what we're going to see in these versus today. When we look at Jesus is coming to the disciples. There is power that is there that sometimes we don't really understand. Just a little story probably about 25 years ago. I was teaching in in Budapest Hungary and there was off and I was called on to give him a message here and there and I've been studying the word in Ephesians and I had gotten to chapter 6 and you know the chapter with the armor of God that you see on the wall there and I read through that and studied that but then I got to the end of that and then first 19 of that chapter it said these words Pray for me that whenever I open my mouth words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known The Mystery of the Gospel. And I read that I thought through it and read it again. And I thought wow, you know I had been in the when I begin studying to buy gone through and I essentially written out the whole message on paper before I would bring it and give it you know, and and so always doing that. I read those words and I thought Is the spirit powerful enough to work in me even? If I don't do all that preparation. and study question you might ask yourself is the spirit powerful enough in you to do something new and different so I was going to speak in about a week and I said, okay Lord. I'm not even going to plan the message until you laid upon my heart and I was kind of hoping that he would lay it upon my heart pretty soon so I could begin to study, you know for it. Well, he didn't Got through Sunday night Monday night and Tuesday night and Wednesday night Thursday night. Nothing came to me not a thing. And so I was saying Lord. Give me something here and finally Friday evening. Just before I crawl into bed. God gives me a verse verses to speak on. So I wake up the next morning haven't written anything down and I said well, what's the use why it would begin the process now, I will just trust that the Lord will guide and direct and so I got to be a congregation. It was a number of a it was the high school students and their parents that I was speaking to at the time because I was teaching at a high school at that time. and I began to speak and I spoke for 40 45 minutes. And to be honest you even today I have no idea.

I couldn't remember a single word what I said, I got finished and I prayed and open my eyes and literally tears were running down nearly everybody in that audience and they were gathering together in prayer groups and praying together. And I have no idea. What did happen? It was just simply the power of the spirit working there that made a difference. So when I talk to you today about the power of the spirit, I don't think most of us understand what we have living in us that can make a difference in our lives here and now in this world today. So let's take a look at it. It's from Luke chapter 24. We were in this earlier, but we'll go the later versus verses 36 through 49, but just 36 through 39 right now. Says while we were still talking about this Jesus himself stood among them and set them peace be with you. There's power right there. They were startled and frightened thinking they saw a ghost and he said to them why are you troubled and walk to doubts rise in your mind's look at my hands and my feet it is myself touch me and see a ghost does not have Flesh and Bones as you see

You're one of the amazing things that we have through Jesus Christ is the whole idea that he actually brought. Peace. To our lot not peace in this world not looking around and saying. Oh, well we have peace this world know he brought peace with himself.

because of that Resurrection if I believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ in the work, he's done for me. I have peace with the Living God. What is that piece do for me? Well, it gives me a lot of freedom in this life because I can live the life. As God is called me to live this life and not be concerned about the circumstances of the life. That's great. Peace with the greatest piece of all is that God has come into me and will never leave me never forsake me, as long as I walk the face of this Earth and then for all eternity Beyond he's with me. I need not fear or worry about what will happen in this life. Because even if I'm at my life were taken today, I would not lose a single thing. Because I have the piece of the Living God in Me. I hope that each and every one of you have that piece it is there it's powerful. It's mighty it changes Life as we trust in him, Isaiah 57:19 700 + years before Jesus came to this earth. He writes these worried creating Praise on their lips. Peace. Peace to those far and near says the Lord and I will

Those who come to Jesus Christ find Healing they find that piece that restoration that's thin that had broken you to pieces now can be restored because of the peace that Jesus brought for the cross. He is a powerful Living God. And he's making a difference.

Whether you believe it or not believing he is making a difference. Paul you know, he brought up Timothy is a disciple that followed him and honored and served him and what he did and he writes to Timothy in the first book 1st, Timothy 4:10. He says that is why we labor and strive because we have put our hope in the Living God who is the savior of all people and especially those who believe Because we believe we have a hope that is eternal and God wants us to give that hope. Isn't it amazing that Jesus Christ who walked with a disciples for some three and a half years. He shows up among them and they're afraid.

They thought he was a ghost. It's not the first time, you know. We go to Mark chapter 6 Jesus has fed the 5000 and he sends the disciples off in a boat and they go sailing off into the sea and he goes up on the mountain in it praise. And then he decides to go out and take care of them because they're in trouble the seas are raging and he's walking on the water towards them and they look up and they see this bright figure walking to her then what do they think? It's a ghost coming here? Mark 6:50 because they saw him and thought he was a ghost. But you know what? He brought peace to them that time as well. Because he took away the storm. Certainly brought peace to Peter's life because he was willing to step out of the boat, but it brought peace to everyone and that's what Jesus does he brings. Peace to alive when we trust in him. He is the visible God. To notice they got to see him and they're not the only ones, you know Christ didn't just go up into glory after he saw the disciples. He spent another 40 Days on the earth imagine that 40 days visiting with people and seeing them he was seeing in Galilee and so forth and there is a statement that was given and it probably circulated around the churches and is given in 1st Corinthians 15 when Paul is talking about Jesus Christ and how we can recognize that he lives. And he says these words 1st Corinthians 15:6 after that after appearing to the disciples and all of that after that. He appeared to more than 500 of the brothers and sisters at the same time. Most of whom are still living though. Some have fallen asleep. Imagine almost as many people as three powers got to see the living savior.

You know, you didn't just go away and hide he showed himself too many and he can show himself to you not visibly most of the time. But you can show himself to you and you can see and feel his presence in his power. The street on evidence what evidence he gives? Versus 4444 when he said this he showed them his hands and feet member. We saw that in the John version as well. And while they did that still did not believe it because of joy in amazement. He asked them. Do you have anything to eat and they gave him a piece of broiled fish and he took it in aided in their presents. He said to them this is what I told you while I was still with you. Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the law of Moses the prophets and the Psalms. You know the evidences of life, you know when some people need more evidence than others, but John talks about these evidences of life when he writes his first epistle. The Bissell John and he begins it with these words. You said that which was from the beginning which we have heard and which we have seen with our eyes, you know, Jesus Christ the beginning it started connecting with him. He heard what he said he saw what he did and he says which we have looked at and our hands touched. He was invisible God this we Proclaim concerning the Word of Life Jesus Christ. He was there we saw him we know and we're proclaiming his life is death burial and Resurrection to you and that's What the word of God does it reveals Christ to us and we need it.

They were supposed to touch him and Peel those wounds he wanted to feel them think about that feel those wounds because we know each and everyone of us cause those wounds. Those ones are there because we were sinners. And after receiving the grace and mercy, we've been healed. But he wanted them to feel where he was. Now there was one that wasn't there Thomas doubting Thomas. He wouldn't believe you said no way not until I touch those wounds and I thrust my hand inside am I going to believe? but he needs Jesus John 20:27. He said to Thomas put your fingers here. See my hands reach out your hand and put it in my side stop and believe and that's what he cries. Did everyone today. God doesn't want people to stop down and we have a world that is full of doubters. In fact, most of the world is full of doubters and they're going the wrong way.

But God doesn't want that. He wants the doubters to feel his presence in his power as we describing and then it goes through and he ate something and isn't that just like Jesus, you know, when we think about all those times when around meals he spoke with power and strength, you know, what's the meals they're kind of important events in the Life of Christ. And so he takes that little fish and eats it. and dumb e ends is time.

In doing those four things remember when Jesus met the disciples after the resurrection in Galilee and they're out fishing all night, and they can't catch a thing and he says throw the net on the other side. right And the catch all that fish.

What's he got waiting for them? What you got waiting on the shore for them? 2113 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them and did the same with the fish. You see somehow in feeding people. There's an understanding of great provision for life and when he meets the disciples after the resurrection. I am still alive and real I think about that for your own bodies all that. You can enjoy will still be able to enjoy eating Glory. Cuz our brothers are going to be like Christ body. Fun scripture that powerful instrument. I hold in my hands and you holding yours scripture is the power to communicate God to your world in need and that's what Jesus reveals to the people. Luke 24:27 says end and beginning with Moses and all the prophecy explain to them what was said in the scriptures concerning him that's on the other to be met on the road to Emmaus. And what does it say about them when they heard this their eyes were open. When Jesus revealed scripture when the spirit of God reveals scripture to you and to me it is powerful. It opens our eyes it gives us revelation. We need to have you wonder why I asked for the spirit to be here in power and strength every time I speak it's because he's going to be the one that will reveal truth to you and understanding not me. He's the one that shows truth and understanding.

Elizabeth shop, this little section will read verses 45 through 49. Benny open their minds Christ opened so they could understand the scriptures. He said that they own this is what has written the Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and repentance for the Forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to All Nations beginning of Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I'm going to send you what my father is Promised, but stay in the city until you have been closed with power from on high. Clothes with a difference in life. And God is the one that makes a difference the Holy Spirit.

Do you ever think of people you pray for any of your pray for the unsaved? I hope so. I hope every one of you is praying for the unsaved for they have a need. You know Paul prayed for understanding for the people and we need to pray that God's spirit gives understanding for the to those people we pray for. Paul has several prayers in Ephesians powerful book to read in to see how he yearns for relationship with not only the Living God, but with God's people in this book, but he says in them Verse 18 of chapter one. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he is called you the riches of his glory inheritance in his holy people. In other words, we need to pray for understanding as well. As for salvation for salvation comes when we begin to understand the truth of the word of God in the power of the work of Jesus Christ in Ives. It's amazing when you take a look at scripture and how it talks about a suffering savior to come in the Old Testament and yet people didn't understand. The reason they didn't understand is they were not empowered by the spirit to guide them and understanding they weren't seeking God's will as they ought to and so they missed a very valuable important part of scripture. And that is that there would be a suffering Savior and Isaiah 53:5 it says but he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities the punishment that brought us. Peace. Was on him and by his wounds we are healed.

That's a savior who was pierced and crushed for you and for me.

That was written 750 years before he came.

The sacrifice was important, you know, it's God's call on what it happens, but the sacrifice was important. Not only that the perfect sacrifice. was so important I sacrificed sheep for 1800 years. Did it save a single life? know all those sheep die Just as a picture not as a Salvation. They died as a picture that that Jesus Christ was coming that actually would be the redeeming one why because he was without sin. As we learned in Sunday school song Sunday school this morning. Do sheep died? And they didn't come back to life. They died and didn't come back to life because they weren't perfect. They were stained by sin. Send it was brought into the world when Adam and Eve fell.

But Jesus Christ came back to life because he was perfect. He was powerful and alive. Hebrews 9:28 says so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many and it will appear a second time not to bear sin but to bring Salvation to those who are waiting for him. Are you waiting for him? I hope so. I hope you're waiting for him because he has changed your life. He has been the sacrifice for your sins and for the sins of everyone in the world, but they need to trust him. They need to believe in who he is and if they don't believe there's no hope they are lost. How about you you have received that salvation that God has given there is a call for your lives as well. Just as there was a call for the disciples lives to go out and to teach people about Jesus Christ in the power of the Resurrection.

You wonder why people believe?

I don't believe because of our word. They believe because of the power of the spirit that's working on their souls. The bring them to understanding and that's when they come to it and say. He died for my sins. And I need to trust him. But it's his word. But you know what God still says, I've called you to be Messengers. I've called you to bring righteousness world. Because somebody has to give the words. And let the spirit have the opportunity to touch the lot. 2nd Corinthians 5:19 fall right to these words that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ not counting people thins against them and he is committed to us to you and to me the message of reconciliation.

We are too few people who help others know Jesus Christ as Lord and savior.

Several reasons to give this message on the day. We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The first one is it if you do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. I hope the spirit of the Living God has been working on your heart today.

Because we don't know how many days we have left. Jesus Christ is coming back. You remember those words he's coming back. And he may be coming back really soon.

If you have not received him as Lord and Savior don't wait. Make it today.

If you can't come forward when we close. See us afterwards. See somebody who knows what it means to become a child of the Living God. Make your eternity secure.

The second thing is the message is here for you. And I who do believe?

Because we do have power we can change the world. But you know what we have to be willing messenger of the gospel of grace. Are limes need to be changed and empowered by the spirit that already lives in US? But are you camping you down and not allow him to work are you saying I'll do it on my own. Are you willing to give it over to him and trust it somehow you'll make a difference in people's lives.

He will. And he wants to use you and use me. And that's a blessing. That's a blessing because you can have influence powerful info.

Anyway, as we close, I I hope that you'll remember those things. And then it will make a difference in your life, but the spirit is spoken. Harshly to you today. To change your life forever. Let's pray. Gracious Father in Heaven. Thank you for

your presence and Power in our world today apart from you. We have no hope but in you we are empowered for all eternity. Thank you Father. May you go with us and may you help us to be bold Servants of the Living God. In all we do in Jesus precious name. Amen.
