As I was reading in preparation for this sermon....the thought dawned on me that Sunday (during the time of Christ) was sorta like our Monday......So on the first resurrection Sunday...
Their holiday of course was Saturday the Sabath Day.....
Back to the daily routine of grinding our a living......and even thought what they had to felt was the greatest tragedy in their live.....their daily life had to continue. somehow.
But they started very early, because they wanted time to cherish the memory of Jesus, who had died two days earlier.....before they moved on....to other things.
It seems these women were part of a group who had traveled with Jesus and the 12 disciples.....
if you would like to look in your Bible at Lukes gospel chapter 8 verse 1,,,,,you will fine a specific reference to them there.
Luke tells us in Chapter 8 vs 1, that Jesus was still in Galalie, He traveled from 1 town and village to another.... proclaiming the GOOD NEWS of the Kingdom of God. And we are told that the 12 were with Him and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and dieses.
These women were from rural Galalie....North of Isreal and they clearly had a deep commitment to Jesus Christ.....
In Luke 8 and verse 2, there names are recorded......Mary called Magdalen was one of them…from whom Lukes tells us that 7 devils had come out of this woman........I don’t about you but I’m thinking she must of had a remarkable story....for years her life had been controlled by demonic powers.....if you had met her in that earlier time in her life, you would have seen a woman who’s life was drive by compulsive patterns of behavior that she could not control or master.
But Christ set her free....He took authority over these evil powers that were binding and destroying her life........And from that time forwards, she became a devoted follower of Jesus.....
Then we are told in Luke 8 verse 3....about another woman by the name of JoAnna, who was the wife of Chuza…the manager of Herod’s household. The manager of the King’s household which was a pretty high level position
