He is Risen!

He is Risen Indeed!

He is risen ….. He is risen indeed. – Do we really believe that?
100’s of millions of ppl worship across the world.
But does the resurrection change the way they live their lives? Why?
History acknowledges the historical Jesus but what if He did not raise to life on the third day?
1 Corinthians 15:13–14 NIV84
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
If Jesus has not been raised from the dead, our faith and belief is useless.
1 Corinthians 15:15 NIV84
More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.
1 Corinthians 15:16–17 NIV84
For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
2. If Jesus was not raised from the dead, there is no forgiveness of your sin.
1 Corinthians 15:18–19 NIV84
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
Pitied: the Greek word used here is also translated pathetic.
The world should laugh at us.
1 Corinthians 15:32 NIV84
If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”
3. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, we should do whatever we want.
What is Paul saying here? Why did I give up all that I had if there is no resurrection?
What about you and me. What have we given up?
Our Sundays / Money (What could we do with the extra money)
Just go and enjoy yourself. You are just going to die. There is no hope.
1 Corinthians 15:1–2 NIV84
Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
4. By putting our faith in the risen Christ, we are saved.
1 Corinthians 15:3 NIV84
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
1 Corinthians 15:4 NIV84
that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
Eater Lilly / how many sins have you possible commited? Yikes.
5. Because Christ is risen, we have been made right with God.
Lee Strobel in his book, God's Outrageous Claims, he shares his own pilgrimage to Christ. He wrote, "I used to consider the Resurrection to be a laughable fairy tale. After all, Yale Law School had trained me to be coldly rational, and my years of sniffing for news at the Chicago Tribune had only toughened my naturally cynical personality. But intrigued by changes in my wife after she became a Christian, I spent nearly two years systematically using my journalistic and legal experience to study the evidence for the Resurrection and the credibility of Jesus' claims to being God. I emerged totally convinced and gave my life to Christ."
What was one of Lee’s biggest details that he couldn’t escape from? When he read this.
1 Corinthians 15:5–7 NIV84
and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
500 eye witness acounts?
Peter fled for his life when Jesus was beaten and killed on the cross. But after seeing the risen Lord he was bold. Even being crucified like his Saviour.
What changed? He saw Him resurrected!
John 20:24–25 NIV84
Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”
John 20:26–27 NIV84
A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
John 20:28–29 NIV84
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
John 20:30–31 NIV84
Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
He is Risen! / He is Risen indeed!
