Luke 15:25-32

(v25-27) — Read
(v28) — GREEK TIME
Literal Trans: He was not willing to go in
This parable is the battle of the wills
The story starts off with a will… that the father has prepared for his son upon his death
The younger son took his fathers plans and literally smashed them with his own will
Coming back, the father willed for a party to occur to celebrate the return of the younger son
Now the older son’s will is conflicting against the fathers will
Every single problem in this story has started by the “sons” lack of understanding of the “father’s” will
NO MATTER WHO YOU IDENTIFY WITH IN THIS STORY… THIS STORY IS TRYING TO TELL YOU THAT HUMANS HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE WILL OF THE FATHER

How do we know the will of our Father

We must know Him (Bible)
We must involve him (Prayer)
We must become smaller (Ego)

Luke 15:25-32 Cont

(v28) — GREEK TIME Cont...
THEREFORE = (Because that was true)
He BESOUGHT us
Besought: Ask (someone) urgently and fervently to do something; implore; entreat
Because we obviously go against what the father KNOWS is right he BESEECHES us
This shows the ridiculousness of the Gospel and the expanses of God’s love for us
(v29-30) — He still doesn’t get it… even after the father besought him
(v31) — You are always with me… whatever is mine, is thine
The older son only realizes what he seems to be missing, but cannot remember all that he does have...
If we remembered that our father tells us that “Whats mine is thine” then most of our worldly problems would be eliminated
His presence is not BUG SPRAY
The father is “always with” the older son but...
It will not stop every inconvenience or us getting mad (Because we are still human at heart), but it can change our lives
(v31) — The father’s will was ultimately right and proved his love for all of his children regardless of their actions
