Write down 1 or 2 things you would like from Jesus
Before some context to the text what is Jesus a supplement or the main course? Is Jesus the main thing or an accessory like sprinkles to a cake? Not needed but can make your life prettier.
Our dreams take over and don’t allow us to see straight!
Passover, 200-300 acres, 20k-30k, 2 million,
Supreme through sovereignty! 1-5
Supreme through sovereignty! 1-5
Jesus knew how everything would go down because he is supreme and calling the shots
He is stirring up the religious to bring about his death
Never listen to a false prophet Deut 18:22
when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
Their dreams of the kind of messiah they wanted blinded them from all the OT passages and ours can do the same
Acts 2:23, Acts 4:27-28
this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.
Jesus is supreme through his divinity!
Jesus is supreme through his divinity!
He now makes a broad public statement about who he is!
Throughout the gospels we can see that he has always made it clear but again our dreams can blind us from the one who is supreme!
bread of life, the living water, the light of the world, I saw Satan fall, truly truly, your sins are forgiven, before Abraham was I am!
Jesus invited the worship and he partially gets what he deserved. A few days later he would get what we deserve.
Though they worship they miss the details of the prophecy
This is not a war horse or a mule but a tricycle
Humble and shameful but not as much as carrying a cross
Jesus is supreme through salvation!
Jesus is supreme through salvation!
Save us is what they were crying out which had to of broken Jesus’ heart!
They had their dreams of the kind of saving they needed which is why their cries switched a few days later
They got angry and turned their backs on Jesus. Why?
He wasn’t supreme but a person who was a means to their dreams!
What if he never fulfills the things you wrote down?
Jesus doesn’t owe us anything
I think I deserve and told our elders
The story of our camping trip and of Rowen
We forget this story from JC Ryle
“Man,” said a thoughtless, ungodly English traveller to a North American Indian convert, “Man, what is the reason that you make so much of Christ, and talk so much about Him? What has this Christ done for you, that you should make so much ado about Him?” The converted Indian did not answer him in words. He gathered together some dry leaves and moss and made a ring with them on the ground. He picked up a live worm and put it in the middle of the ring. He struck a light and set the moss and leaves on fire. The flame soon rose and the heat scorched the worm. It writhed in agony, and after trying in vain to escape on every side, curled itself up in the middle, as if about to die in despair. At that moment the Indian reached forth his hand, took up the worm gently and placed it on his bosom. “Stranger,” he said to the Englishman, “Do you see that worm? I was that perishing creature. I was dying in my sins, hopeless, helpless, and on the brink of eternal fire. It was Jesus Christ who put forth the arm of His power. It was Jesus Christ who delivered me with the hand of His grace, and plucked me from everlasting burnings. It was Jesus Christ who placed me, a poor sinful worm, near the heart of His love. Stranger, that is the reason why I talk of Jesus Christ and make much of Him. I am not ashamed of it, because I love Him.”

We have homes which is something Christ as supreme never had!
Jesus came to do what actually needed to be done and provide our greatest dream: the love of God through atonement!
My recurring nightmare
3pm on Friday afternoon Jesus changes his language
He became the prophet, king, and priest
He gave the greatest healing we need
On this coming Friday we celebrate maybe my favorite words from Jesus—it is finished!
He paid for the way we make our dreams supreme!
Anything other than Christ is the bonus!
Abraham and maybe but I know what he has promised!
What do we do?
What do we do?
Repent
Be honest with others and pray together
Church and Jesus aren’t separate
Abide in the Word not for dreams but to know the supreme!
