Walking in Resurrection Power

Romans 8:11 NKJV
11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
On the first Sunday or April, we celebrate Easter. The holiday is fixed on calendars, remembered by employers, and honored by churches. Easter is the day we remember Jesus’ victory over sin. The story is simple, yet exceptionally profound. The God of the universe sent His only Son to earth. While on earth, His Son lived like us, talked like us, experienced life like us, and faced hardships like us. Yet the major difference between the Son and humanity was sin. Everyone on earth is born into sin, except the Son. When God sent His Son, Jesus lived thirty-three years of perfection. That is not to say He was free from temptation. However, He never yielded to Satan’s consistent attempts to stop Jesus. Another important aspect of the resurrection of Jesus has to do with its effect on our lives. When Paul wrote to the church in Rome, he explained how Jesus rose from the dead. His lifeless body laid in the tomb, until the morning the Holy Spirit came upon Him and up from the grave He arose.
Paul brings the resurrection close to home with another simple, yet exceptionally profound truth. Yes God raised Jesus from the dead, and when we accept Christ as our personal Savior, God’s spirit of resurrection lives within us. Therefore, we have an opportunity to live and walk in resurrection power. Now, this life that was born into sin is spiritually alive because of what Jesus did on the cross. So now, we can look at the resurrection in a new light. It is not just an event that occured thousands of years ago. Instead, the resurrection is a new reality of life available for anyone who calls on the name of the Lord.
As we walk in resurrection power, we have confidence that the same Spirit that brought life to Jesus will bring to life any situation we face. Because of Jesus’ resurrection, we have the ability to walk in resurrection power, through the help of the Holy Spirit, every day.
