Resurection and the Life

Christ is Risen - He is Risen indeed hallelujah

Jesus was a man who lived just like you and me in many ways!

But he was also not like you and me,

Like us - he was human,

Unlike us he was also the son of God,

He was tempted to do things wrong - like you and me -

but he never did do anything wrong. - unlike you and me!

Like you and me

He had fun days and sad days,

Easier days and hard days.

And the verse we are thinking about today is from a hard day for Jesus.

His friend Lazerus had died and he had just arrived at the house of Lazarusus sisters, Mary and Martha.

This whole year has been very sad for millions of people in the world becasue around 3 million poeple have died from CORONA Virus.

But in fact nearly 60 million people died this year for all sorts of different reasons - mostly becasue of old age.

Thats a lot of people -

Thereare about 60 million blades of grass on this field!!!

I didn’t count them I did some maths - but you can check later if you want.

We all die evetually.

If you know anyone who has died, then you’ll know it’s a very sad time.

Jesus had to face the death of his friend Lazerus,

but what he says - and what we celebrate at Easter is amazing!

I’d like you to look inside your egg now - and you’ll find some words that you need to try and put into a sentance - it’s phrase Jesus said.

You have 2 minutes to put the words in the right order

Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.

Jn 11:25

Mum’s, dad’s, ladies, gents, boys and girls - death is not the end - and not only that - death if we believe in the forgiveness of Jesus - is actually the beginning!

That is good news in a year of corona virus!

Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life’.

Resurection is a big word - all it means is that someone comes back to life after they have died!

It seems impossible!

But it is not impossible for a creator God to do that!

Before we find out what happened with Lazerus,

we need to think about Easter.

Jesus was like us, he was a human being,

But he was also God himself come down to us.

At Easter,

Jesus died on a cross.

A very sad event.

But he rose again!

The bible teaches us that when we die, we will face God

and he will judge us for how we have lived our lives,

And unlike Jesus - we have all in many ways ignored,

or rejected,

or denied God.

Romans 3:10–12 NIV

As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

Except Jesus - he alone is righteous - perfectly loving and obedient to God the Father.

And Easter reminds us he loves us too!

He died to take the judgeemnt we deserve when we die

- so that - we might live - even though we die! - as the verse said.

When believers in Jesus die - they do not face judgement,

becasue Jesus was judged in our place on the cross!

He died!

And he rose again!

So he is the resurection and the life!

Believe in Jesus!

He died so that we can have life - even when we die!

We live with God forever in joy!

In life!

That sad day Jesus had with his friend Lazerus who had died did not stay sad for long!

Jesus went to his friend and broght him back to life!

Wow!

Jesus will bring us all back to life to live with him forever in heaven - if we believe in him!

Easter is great becasue Jesus prooved he is the resurection and the life becasue he rose again!

Christ is Risen - he is risen indeed - hallelujah!

Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.

Jn 11:25

Remeber this verse when you’re sad - when you realise you have not loved God as he loves you.

Becasue it reminds us of Easter!

It reminds us that we have life!

it reminds us that no matter what happens - God loves us,

John 3:16 NIV

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

What a joyful day Easter is - if we believe
