My name? You’d probably not be able to pronounce it. But that’s OK, my name’s not the important one to remember. Who am I? Oh, I see, I appear like a man; I do that sometimes.
See, Yahweh created me, for His glory, just like He created you. He allowed me to watch Him create the world where you live for now. Job wrote about that.
Yahweh sent a couple messenger friends of mine to guard the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned. He sent others to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, and to rescue Lot. Some of Yahweh’s angels were there when He gave Moses the Law. We’ve done quite a bit in service of Him,
One of those messengers, you probably remember his name, Gabriel, he got some pretty cool tasks; like visiting Daniel, and also Zachariah - you know, John the Baptist’s dad? And Gabriel got to go tell Mary that she was going to give birth to the Messiah. She and Joseph named Him Jesus.
I’m sure you know who Jesus is, right? Yeah, I know Him pretty well. He’s waiting, right now, to gather all His followers - He calls them disciples - to take them to be with Him. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
One of my fellow messengers went to tell Joseph to get married to Mary, when he was confused about Yahweh’s plan. Later, Joseph had to be warned to take Jesus to Egypt.
It was very important to us to protect Jesus. I mean, He’s God, and also human, and He left glory for a while to come here to be with you. YOU SHOULD SEE GLORY, IT’s AMAZING! Anyway, it was really, really important for Jesus to do that, to come here. He talks and talks about how much He loves you, like all the time!
So let’s see…when Jesus was around 30 years old, in human years, He was tempted by Satan (don’t get me started on him, I can’t wait for Yahweh to finally deal with him…). Jesus was hungry, so some other messengers went to take care of Him. It was really hard for us to watch Him struggle.
We, like you, know what He said He was here to do, yet it was hard to hear Him pray in Gethsemane; He was so weak. Yahweh sent another of my friends to strengthen Him - Jesus so wanted to not go to the cross, but Yahweh had His plan and reasons.
So there we were, about 72,000 of us, ready to descend and take care of those who were beating Him, scourging Him, spitting on Him, CRUCIFYING Him!
But He never asked us to come help Him.
And then He died. He died.
And his body was placed in a tomb. Yeah...
BUT…YOU SHOULD HAVE HEARD THE ROAR IN HEAVEN WHEN HE ROSE AGAIN! It was deafening!
THEN, the most amazing thing happened! Yahweh asked me and a friend to do something for Him. We were, like, YES - ANYTHING!
It was very early the first day, and we realized that Jesus had risen. HE WAS ALIVE!
But who would believe it? The stone was covering the tomb, and Yahweh wanted it moved.
You guessed it, we got to go move that stone. You’d think it was heavy, but it was like moving this piece of paper.
Man, you should have seen the look on the faces of the guards. That was funny!
And then there we sat, waiting.
These women came to the tomb, looking for Jesus, even though He wasn’t there. I wonder if they even thought about how THEY would have moved the stone. That still makes me chuckle. Anyway, they saw us, and they were scared and confused.
We told them, “Remember what Jesus said, that He would rise again on the third day.” We tried to calm them down, but they were still confused.
We just told them that He wasn’t here, that He had risen, just like He said. And we told them to go tell the disciples, especially Peter, that JESUS WAS ALIVE!
Maybe this resurrection thing is a familiar story to you. It is to me, too.
But I never get tired of telling it. IT NEVER GETS OLD!
JESUS IS ALIVE!
We opened that tomb, not to let Him out, but to show that He wasn’t there.
HE’S ALIVE!
I really hope that message never gets old.
Oh…one more thing. Jesus said to tell you He’s coming back, and He told me to tell you to get ready!
