Do you you Remember? Often times we forget. We forget about the experiences we have gone thru. We forget about the history of our people. We forget what we have been told and taught. What happens when we forget? Today marks the 53 anniversary of Dr. Kings death. We failed to remember the price that was paid for the right to vote. Today we can reflect that as Illinois new law that expands voters rights the state where Dr. King was pastor, Georgia has put into law some of the mist restrictive voting laws in the country. It is a felony to bring someone water while they stand in line.
Often it causes us to make errors. Missteps. When we forget it causes us unnecessary anxiety. When we forget that man should always pray. we become like the the hymn writer.
Oh, what peace we often forfeit Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer
Remembering has it benefits.
On this first day of the week Jesus has risen! He has been resurrected from the dead. The scriptures say Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. (Lk 24:5–7).
This is the best news ever. Jesus fulfilled what was written of him. In Matthew 17:22-23 Says The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed. (Mt 17:22–23). In Mark its clear that when Jesus told them in 9:31 verse 32 says: 32 But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him. (Mk 9:32).
Its often we do not understand which often causes the same result.
Process
10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. (Heb 2:10). In the process we must search the Bible 1 Peter 1:10-12 10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11 inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look. (1 Pe 1:10–12).
13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” (1 Pe 1:13–16).
Proclaim
33 And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34 saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” 35 Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he was known to them in the breaking of the bread. (Lk 24:33–35). What did Jesus share verse 27 said he share starting with Moses and all the prophets. We have a responsibility to do the same.
During this resurrection Sunday we need to be sharing all we know of Jesus! The two that met Jesus on the road to Emmaus said did not our hearts burn!
Christ is our sure thing! He is our hope for tomorrow! Our light in dark places! Everything hinges The resurrection!
12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. (1 Co 15:12–17).
