1 Corinthians 15:3–6 NASB95
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep;
1 Corinthians 15:12–19 NASB95
12 Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. 15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; 17 and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 15:20 NASB95
20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
Paul first say I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received,
This is the most essential message in the history of the world the very essence of this revelation will change the way of life, reality and disposition of the believer.
3 things
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures
He was buried,
He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
Jewish theological traditions (the Sadducees) rejected the concept.
The Sadducees did not believe in a bodily resurrection, though the the old testament taught of one
Isaiah 26:19 NASB95
19 Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise. You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy, For your dew is as the dew of the dawn, And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.
Daniel 12:2 NASB95
2 “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt.
The enemy would want us to doubt and not live in the knowledge of the resurrection.
Jesus died and was resurrected.
On easter will celebrate the victory of the resurrection.
yes, he died for our sin, no our sin didn’t kill him
yes he was bury… but on the 3rd day
raised on the third day according to the Scriptures
And paul start in our text proving that very fact stating how
He showed himself to
Cephas,
the twelve
James
500 people at a time
Now how could there be any question in a court of law when you have 500 people all testifying to the same thing.
“Jesus affirmed the resurrection in His teaching, and demonstrated His personal power over death by raising Lazarus. Yet the raising of Lazarus and others by Jesus was merely a restoration of earthly life. It was not the total transformation exhibited in Jesus’ own resurrection—and promised believers when Christ returns. What we do know is that when Christ returns the believing “dead will be raised imperishable, and we [who live then] will be changed” L. O. Richards
1 Corinthians 15:52 NASB95
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Then Paul say
6 things that if there was no resurrection
1) preaching Christ would be senseless (v. 14)
2) faith in Christ would be useless (v. 14)
3) all the witnesses and preachers of the resurrection would be liars (v. 15)
4) no one would be redeemed from sin (v. 17)
 5) all former believers would have perished (v.18)
 6) Christians would be the most pitiable people on the earth (v. 19)
If there was no resurrection we would be wasting our time here this morning listen to preaching.
our faith in God would be absolutely worthless
All the people that Paul just mention would be lairs
we would be still in our sin with no hope of forgiveness
all our beloved ones who have past away would be gone forever
and Christ would be the most pitiful, foolish, ignorant, miserable, pathetic, sorry, wretched, woeful, sad, insignificant people in all the world.
But Paul Declares in verse 20
1 Corinthians 15:20 NASB95
20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
Thank you Jesus for the resurrection
because of it
the preaching of the gospel is the power of God to salvation
by faith we can speak to mountain and say be thrown into the sea
we know that 500 hundred people that saw his resurrected were not liars
we know For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
we know that Jesus paid it all, all to him we owe, sin has left a crimson stain but he was it white as snow...
and we know we are more than conquers, redeem, Holy Ghost filled, happy, joyous, the righteous of God through Christ Jesus, whole, victorious, healed, delivered, ,too blessed to be stress.. He is ours and we are His..
Thank you for the resurrection
because of it we do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.
for we know....
1 Corinthians 15:52–57 NASB95
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; 57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
