Order

We begin to see the beginning of the order god gives his universe:
1:9 Laws of chemistry -cohesion and bonds of elements
1:12 Laws of reproduction of vegetation
1:14b Laws of time and seasons
1:18 The order of the universe - stars, galaxies, etc. this is the Big Bang
1:22 The first direct command to nature. To multiple
1:28 man given same command to multiple
1:29 God sets the order for food. There is no food chain. Everything is herbivore
2:16-17 The first command of order with a negative consequence
FYI I don’t know why god put a forbidden tree there.
God gave his creation specific instructions. Its not just humans, all of creation was given an order.
This is why we see the universe begin to get so chaotic after the fall. It messed up things so bad that even the earth’s rules were broken. Everything was messed up.

Reflection

Gods good world becomes very good with one addition. The image of God. He creates man with the image of God.
Up until this, it was the creativity of God.
Now we see the direct reflection of God.
Those people were created exactly like God intended them to be. No self image problems. No confusion about who they were.
Genesis 1-2
Read through 1:24-25
This is the big moment. God is filling his perfect creation with all kind of creatures to live and enjoy God and his creation.
I think we want to sit on 1:26-27 for a minute.
Not in some humanistic way, worshipping how great we are. But with awe and amazement. He created this last creature but he did it differently. He made this creature to reflect him. To be the icon of who he is. To remind creation of who God is while he’s not there physically and to tend to everything while he’s gone. Both male and female. We both got the same icon status. Both made to reflect God.
Verse 28 Both given the task to tend to the creation.
Verse 31 is the greatest statement we will read until the gospel. God is completely satisfied in what he sees.
We will get in to what changed next week, but for tonight, let’s ponder what we were meant to be.
The reflection of msn was pure in Gods eyes and mans eyes.
V 1:31 very good
Why do you think he said it looks very good?
It’s because he was looking at the reflection of himself.
This is ultimately about Gods view of us.
The New Testament says that God sees us, without Jesus, as enemies.
2 corinthians 5:20 and Romans 8:1
Going to use Colossians 3:3-6
But that’s not the way it was intended. We were created for God to look on us and see himself.
And we weren’t embarrassed because we saw God when we looked at ourselves.
Carry around a mirror and let them look in it.
Have you ever thought about why you are so embarrassed of your body or of who You are.
The way you look, the way you think, or the way you act.
I hate looking in a mirror. The way my hair falls. My over bite. I’m fat. I’m skinny.
Either crack the mirror or ask for a cracked iPhone
It’s because you are looking at a broken screen. Like a cracked iPhone screen. It’s not what Adam and Eve saw.
It’s not your totally fault that you have trouble seeing yourself without being embarrassed.
I hope that’s a relief to some of you.
not used
(Obeying God and working wasn’t meant to be so hard.
Genesis 2:8-15
This is got to be the greatest vacation spot on earth.
Listen to the description.
Genesis 2:8-15
I mean Adam’s work is a life of vacation.
Adam is just given a couple rules. Think about this; at this point, he is not stained by sin.
So the choice to not sin is as easy for Adam as the choice to sin.
That’s not still true today. It’s easier for you to sin than to not sin. Without the work of Jesus Christ, you most likely will sin. )
I want to leave you with some good news.
First, you are messed up because of Adam. Thats a prize for being his son or daughter
Second, even though Adam cursed you, you still mess up. Thats your fault. You are responsible. But theres grace!!!
Romans 5:15–16 NKJV
15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification.
Romans 5:20–21 NKJV
20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
