Read John 20:1-10

Jesus’ body was placed in the tomb on the evening of the day. Just before the sabbath.
Mary came early in the morning when it was still dark.
Saw the stone rolled away and went away distraught.
Peter and John ran up.
Looked inside. Peter saw the linen’s folded.
John saw and believed. Didn’t tell anybody.
He understood what had taken place.
Everyone faces life altering moments that change everything.
The resurrection of Jesus from death to life changes everything.
Everything is different. The church can rise up from the ashes and tell the world where to find hope.
HOPE HAS A NAME. HIS NAME IS JESUS!

Read Acts 2:22-36

Peter stood up in the midst of his Jewish brethren and proclaimed Jesus to the crowd.
The works and character of Jesus was widely known to His audience. “Attested” - proved.
Instead of recognizing Jesus as the son of God, the Jews took steps to crucify and kill Him.
The plan was of God and not the lawless men.
The evil intended by the mob was used by God for the ultimate good. Death could not defeat Jesus.
Peter quotes Psalm 16:8-11 from David.
The psalm is not about David himself. He was dead and buried.
Instead of being abandoned to Hell, the messiah would be raised from the dead.
Jesus was the fulfillment of David’s prophecy.
Ascended to the right hand of God. Jesus has not recieved the promise of the Holy Spirit and it was poured out on all people.
David was aware that someone far greater than himself would fulfill God’s promise of an everlasting kingdom.
The Jews had put the King of kings on the cross.
Peter told a Jewish story to help people see Jesus.
What does the story of the resurrection mean to us?
There is only 1 kingdom to live for.
the church has hope to offer the neighborhood.
