DEATH REIGNED

INTRODUCTION: Follow the leader.
1 Corinthians 15:21 ESV
21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
Death reigned - God made this world perfect. Every Moment. Every inch. But we sinned. We ruined it.
So much so we killed the only perfect man.
Death is our opponent. And he is undefeated. Everyone from Adam onward has had to come to grips that one day they will die.
No amount of kale or tithing will save you.
But God promised salvation. He promised victory over sin and death.
We longed for it for thousands of years.
1 Corinthians 15:21 ESV
21 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.
Then Jesus: deaf, blind, lame, even wind and rain. Then raised him up from the dead! Surely it was him.
But then good Friday came. And Jesus whom was going to set us free. Died. The most horrific death possible.

You don’t defeat death by living forever. You defeat death by dying then coming back to life.

Jesus reveres the curse: Adam was disobedenit in the garden. But Jesus went to the garden to obey.
Adam hid byhind a tree to hide his nakedeness. Jesus died naked on a tree.
Adam started in paradise and was then thrown out of the gate. Jesus died outside the gate so that he can go into the gate.
Adam sin resulted in a curse of thorns, but Jesus worn that curse as a crown.
1 Corinthians 15:25–26 ESV
25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death.

Death once reigned, but now Jesus rules.

When he stepped out of the grave. He defeated death and hell once and for all. Which is why we can say
1 Corinthians 15:54–57 ESV
54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
I’m still following the leader. So when Jesus walked out of the grave, i’m following him right out.
