y si Cristo no resucitó, vuestra fe es vana: aún estáis en vuestros pecados. Entonces también los que murieron en Cristo perecieron. Si solamente para esta vida esperamos en Cristo, somos los más dignos de lástima de todos los hombres. Pero ahora Cristo ha resucitado de los muertos; primicias de los que murieron es hecho, pues por cuanto la muerte entró por un hombre, también por un hombre la resurrección de los muertos.

I would like to open this sermon with an important question:

What would be your definition of UNHAPPINESS??

(Don’t look to your wife/husband right now!!)

Maybe your answer could be:

I don’t have a boyfriend;

I have no money;

I don’t like my job, OR I don’t have a job!

I am unhappy with my marriage, or I am sick.

But in the midst of all this unhappiness in the world, today we celebrate the remembrance of the event which is considered the most important day in the history of mankind: the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Lord. IT CHANGED THE COURSE OF HISTORY FOREVER!

The text we read (maybe the most important chapter about resurrection in the Bible) shows the Apostle Paul reasoning with the Corinthians about the reality of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and he affirms that if there is no resurrection, that would cause Christians to be the most miserable of all men.

Paul lists 3 things that would have happened, if Jesus had not risen, and also 3 realities that come because of the resurrection.

1. NUESTRA FE SERIA VANA

There is nothing worse than fighting, working and putting effort in something that is not worth it, that is vain!

Coming to church would be vain, forgiving people, trying to live an honest life, everything would be useless!

The same apostle Paul says in this same chapter:

Si como hombre batallé en Éfeso contra fieras, ¿de qué me sirve? Si los muertos no resucitan, «Comamos y bebamos, porque mañana moriremos».

2. EL PECADO PREVALECERIA

Without Jesus’ resurrection we would be completely LOST. That’s why we use the term SALVATION

When Jesus died, he went to Hell and paid our debts!

Without the resurrection, nothing of this would have happened!

HOWEVER, Paul says that if that was the case, we would be the most pitiable of all men! PERO...

Thousands of people testified about Jesus’ resurrection, it is absolutely verifiable because HE LIVES IN US THROUGH HIS SPIRIT!

It was necessary that Jesus came first, died, and then granted our resurrection.

We must remember that the notion of the firstfruits was wonderfully experienced right after the resurrection of Jesus, where people were raised from the dead immediately! They were the firstfruits, besides people already resurrected in the Old Testament.

The resurrection of Jesus, granting our resurrection is a fascinating thing because it puts us back to the beginnings, where death was not part of our existence, in the Garden of Eden, but also points out to eternity, where our bodies will be glorified

As we finish this message, I would like to propose another question:

Where is your hope at??

Anything short of the guarantee of the resurrection, is worthy of pity and lamentation;

We must always remember that everyone will be resurrected, there will be one for JUDGEMENT and one for LIFE
