amen

Oh go back to that one. That was the blank. Yeah.

Set alarm.

That's amazing. I just want to reflect just for a second this Lord. Thank you so much for giving us that Victory this morning. Or we can stand in that power Lord. Sometimes things seem hopeless and bleak. The Lord you give us true. Hope speak to us father Spirit of the Living God speak to us speak through me to us. We ask humbly in Jesus name. Amen.

Do this morning when I really want to do something just to a little bit a little bit different. We did our scripture reading. I'm going to be doing some more scripture reading but with the the ending what we just read a few minutes ago, but but in the context of of the what Easter is like we get up, you know, and we are excited about Easter we know what it is. We celebrated we often, you know do special things and we have kids lot times. We do the Easter baskets and things or maybe we'll have special dentist dentist dentist dinners or whatever, but we do things and we celebrating in we get up and we look forward to to celebrating their the resurrection, but I'm the original de it wasn't that way. The first day that Jesus rose there was a lot of doubt. There was a lot of discouragement. It was a lot of pain. and and so if we maybe just take a moment just to sort of put ourselves. In that spot in so I thought we could do in order to put ourselves into that spot as maybe I kind of imagined that we are jumping back in time for a moment. and If you know maybe if you close your eyes and you want to try to imagine this scenario around you, but just imagine for example that you are one of the disciples for example, or maybe you were someone who was very close to one of the disciples and you were very familiar with all the events and things that we're going on around you. And and just imagine for a moment.

As you were reflecting. On everything that just happened in the last week. And just imagine for a moment. What you were thinking, you know, what just a week ago.

We were standing out in the streets. Watching our Lord. Being paraded down the streets of Jerusalem. People throwing the Palm leaves down and worshipping him calling him over there.

And just that same day. We were thinking yes, finally our Lord is going to come and he is going to overthrow the Roman government and he's going to set up his kingdom finally the Messiah that has been promised all along. Is here? And we have something to look forward to in your we've been following him for the last 3 years. the people have your other religious people that haven't gotten it, but you know now maybe they're looking they're seeing the crowd doing the worship thing is so maybe there might be some hope

Okay, maybe he's riding in on a donkey. It's not a stye in but he already he's getting the recognition. Finally. We're getting somewhere. And then we see him going into the temple for being the money tables over and Gary right? He did at the beginning of his ministry, but now he's coming in and he said hey, this is a House of Prayer. Demonstrate that Authority like we've seen like on a mini occasions like that. Wow, this is cool. But he is really going now wait wait wait for the Roman government sees what he can do.

And then you think about you know that you're sitting there and Sunday morning. And is your thinking about you know about, you know, just last Thursday night just a just a few nights ago. You remember that warm and intimate time? What you're having with the Lord as you were sitting around the table eating dinner with him.

He talked about some things that will weird baby didn't understand nobody. He's certainly talked about the issue of love and he talked about, you know, the command that we have to love one another and he talked about the command and he prayed over us father. That would be one and you know, I'm like a warm and intimate time and you remember thinking this is like this is the one the verge of something good here.

And then you remember him looking over and leaning over and talking with Judas and they were saying some weird things and you didn't really understand it. But also did you just got a bloody a really thing in the whole because he's a treasure right? He he goes and he he he does stuff because that's what he does. He's maybe he was going to go give some money to the pool or something whatever it was.

Remember that night being so amazing.

all the time, you know the sweet Fellowship of eating together and then The Lord says let's go pray until we've course. We going Pray by week. We've done that many times. We going we pray until we go over to the Garden of Gethsemane where one of his favorite praying spots and I remember being so tired. I was full. We're just eating all that. I was sleepy.

And I remember, you know, remember the Lord coming over and shaking. Hey won't you pray with me? you can only imagine how hard it was that night for us to To pray, you know, I mean literally meaning by we were just tired.

and then we look up and

we'll see some torches coming down the road and some lights and some and we looking at some of the temple Garrison some of that the temple were soldiers are coming. We're like what's going on? Like, who's that something? Is there a criminal round here? And I'll said we look in there Jesus and he walks right up to her master and he gives him a kiss.

And then the rest of them.

It was shocking. What how how many times have we avoided the Jews in and getting our our masters betrayed by one of his own people? It was some confusion Peter takes out a sort of men with him taking the sort out and trying to fight the soldiers coming here off and Jesus like no way. Did he pick the air put the back on and it's like he was a crazy night.

And then you start hearing about you. No like this as we're walking through the streets and we start hearing people now instead of people talking about Hosanna the one in the highest and in the glory to God where we're starting to hear people murmuring and talking.

And hate is starting to feel the place now. This is not like what it was.

It's so much so that we begin to hear people trying to make up things about who our Lord and Master was they kept saying those things about and they kept trying to find people who could say false things against the risk, they couldn't find anybody and so finally they just started them mixed up on these and they said well, don't you remember you're about three years ago when he said destroy this Temple and rebuild it in 3 days.

What kind of jellyfish is your chair? If you can realize he can you go to explain yourself, but he he didn't he just he just kept silent. You could have said something because he could have did something. I mean all of those times, you know, I remember those times with her that they really just people and they they tried to comfort him before. He just walked right to Lincoln. They never found. Why why did he do that thing again?

Stop accusing him, but he still said nothing. And then finally, he did say something. He said the right thing but it seemed like he was at the right or the wrong time. And he's I like, you know, one of the police gets mad. He says, he's his he says I am pieces. Are you tell us whether you are by the Living God whether you are the Christ the son of God and he he speaks up for the first time and he says you have heard it said yourself another less. I tell you from here on out. You're going to see the son of man sitting at the right hand of power coming in the Clouds Of Heaven.

I don't not believe it's true, but he You should have seen the rain in those religious people be right there in front of everybody.

You guys have heard it now.

Who deserve death kiss blast when he's claiming self to be God?

And they spit in his face. They can see they pulled out his beard a they did all kinds of things for the next couple hours. They just continued and continued lower play games with them you're there to do him and blindfold him him say you don't hear God Is So Almighty wants you tell us who hit you.

What a horrible long that night seemed to last forever. all the way into the morning an early early early Friday morning Mary was on trial before ananias.

Any quickly swept away at right now, he's on trial before the Sanhedrin. I'll like seventy one of them. They're all in there are raging that all this is Matt as the other ones.

And even by that morning Peter was there he was trying to watch him out. I don't blame you. I know he didn't I jeez like I give him or he at least when I couldn't even go I couldn't put myself in that situation, but But I know I know he was feeling really bad this morning. It was really feeling bad.

I kept scratching him and then you know what and then all the sudden now, he's on trial before Pilate and Herod.

Couldn't help but just think I'm just a week ago things were so different. the very people devil worshiping him hosanna in the highest are now shouting crucify him crucify him.

is there Our Lord was hung on that barbaric cross.

blood dripping down

all this before 9

Steve's room right there on both sides with two thieves the worst never mocking him and making fun of it.

I went from time to time to go listening here and seeing was hard to see what's hard.

I remember him saying. Father forgive them cuz I don't know what kind of person can pray this prayer.

and somebody else was telling about when they And I couldn't help with my heart warmed over when I heard about the Seas of very ones. They were mocking and make fun of what one of them apparently had a change in her knee recognizes innocence and he said something about no remember him and he said then do a my words like today. Are you going to be with me in Paradise? 2 like I can only imagine how amazing it would be that he's been following him a long but today there's this common Thief is going to be there with him. The shame that we won't get to continue to walk with him. I don't understand everything that he was doing. They took care of his mom even that moment and he told Jon Jon there's your mom.

Mom, there's your son. But I think the most agonizing moment. I'm saying that I just couldn't understand. He was crying and people can stay and he was calling out to Elijah, but he said my God my God. Why why have you forsaken me and why would he say something like that?

Of course, he was thirsty so he was given some. something to quench that

but in the end he you know, he it was almost like it was deliberate. Like I just remember it so clearly he said father and it's finished. Nice dinner stand exactly what he meant by finished. And he died in that moment saying father in my hands. I commend your spirit my spirit.

Can write it all happen by 3 in the afternoon and they all said it was all kinds of weird and crazy things that were happening the sky with with changing color. There was a earthquake that were happening in and there was wrong by Cube or is that what we couldn't even move with broken pieces in and even recently heard about the veil in the temple that was being torn in two. Where is that where do old women we see spirits going all kinds of crazy things.

And I remember some of the folks thing truly just this was the son of God.

And then it comes to the Roman soldier. He he pokes into the side of Jesus just to make sure he's dead.

And all this while Jerusalem is making their own sacrifices. You're sacrificing Lambs are Lord is dying. our Lord, I'm And before the sun was said he was put in the ground and there we've been waiting. These last couple days. Fearful, we've been hiding trying to figure out what to do not knowing really where to go.

And then finally we get word Mary comes running and just she's talked to him. And really what are you talking about? Our Lord is dead that mean we knew like he said some things we didn't understand about the state. He died in the Grand week you make sense to us.

But she said she talked to him. So what I said talk to him and so

that's kind of strange.

Maybe there's a glimmer of hope this morning. Maybe if it's true.

Maybe there's more to something maybe that we didn't understand about our Lord.

see Isaiah Talked about this very thing. Is very moment in human history.

when you said that you see God said my servant will prosper.

He will be highly exalted.

But many were amazed when they saw him. Face was so disfigured. He seemed hardly human appearance one could scarcely know. He was a man.

And he will startle many nations Kings will stand speechless in his presence. For they will see what they had not been told. They will understand what they had not heard about. Who has believed our message to who has the Lord reveal his powerful arm?

My servant grew up in the Lord's present like a tender green shoot like a root in dry ground. It was nothing beautiful or Majestic about his appearance. Nothing to attract them to us. Nothing to attract us to him. He was despised. and rejected a Man of Sorrows acquainted with the deepest grief

we turn our backs on him and look the other way.

He was despised and we didn't care.

Yet.

It was our weakness. He carried. It was our sorrows that weigh them down.

And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God like a punishment for his own sins, but he was pierced for our Rebellion crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be home. It was whipped. So we could be healed all of us like sheep have straight away. We have lost God's path to follow our own yet. The Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

He was oppressed treated harshly never said a word.

He was like a lamb to the slaughter and a sheep is silent before it's cheers. He did not open his mouth.

Unjustly condemned he was let away. No one cared that he died without descendants. That is life was cut short in midstream.

But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong, and he had never deceived anyone. He was buried like a criminal. He was put in rich man's grave.

But it was a Lord's good plan to crush him and it cause him grief.

Yet when his life is made as an offering for sin. He will have many descendants. He will enjoy long life in the Lord's good plan will prosper in his hands when he sees what is accomplished by his anguish. He will be satisfied and because of his experience my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous for he will bear all their sins. He will give he will give him the honors of a Victorious Soldier. Because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among the rebels and bore the sins of many and interceded for Rebels.

Having title today's message The Spoils of a righteous victory. I guess we should go ahead and flip over. Is it not working? Is it went off and realize it went off?

Score of the righteous Victory which the idea of squirrels when we think about what that means that you know, when that'll going to Soldier goes in the battle or when an army goes in the battle. They get to claim the rewards of that later, right and And so that's what we're in Tyler kind of a strange title for an Easter message. What's the point what we want to make today is that he made us to be the spoils? Of his victory over punishment and gas it. So we're going to look deeply into this last these last three verses in Isaiah which talk about Jesus resurrection. The word Resurrection is not used in there, but we can see each other and then he says it starts off course, very strange and he says if you look at verse 10 and it starts off and he says Give me one second.

He starts talking about the

Will just do it without the the slideshow he starts talking about how it was pleased the Lord that that this was God's good plan to crush his son. In from the human perspective, we would never say something like that. What we see how much the Lord Delights in his son. For example, when we look in Isaiah chapter 42 in verse one this what he says Isis, this is my servant. I strengthened him. This is my chosen one. I Delight in him. I have put my spirit on him and he will bring Justice to the Nations that God is always delighted in his son. We see even in the New Testament. There's that moment when Jesus being baptized in. spirit of God descend Upon Jesus There's Jesus in the water in the father's voice comes and said this is my beloved Son and I am very very well pleased with him. But we see in this first 10 that Isaiah is for telling about the resurrection of Jesus. Look if you will at the first part there he says when you met or the second part when you make him a guilt offering what is the idea of a guilt offering offering was that something that sacrifice that will be made for an atonement for sins is this idea that we understood goes all the way back in the beginning when God was teaching Adam and Eve about the the idea of life and death and he told Adam if you eat of the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil you will die. There's a consequence to disobeying God and the result of that is deaf. That's been a scene that's run all throughout scripture and God's provision for that was the offer up a sacrifice in place of that. So this idea specifically of a guilt offering had to connotations to A-1 was a breach of Faith. So it was the idea that if you had a contract or Covenant with somebody and you broke that Covenant that you would be in violation of that you would be in breach of that. And of course the nation of Israel was in breach of their contract or they're coming with the Lord. They could not keep their part of the Covenant part of that would be a sacrilege was the idea of taking something that was sacred and and and and desecrating it. Physic with both of these were considered crimes in in a in the context of worship. And so the idea being that in order to make that ride there would have to be a sacrifice or an animal be brought in to be sacrificed and it would be killed there would be an end to his life. It's always staying in verse Genesis when you make him a guilt offering in other words, he is going to be sacrificed there is going to be deaf. He's going to have to spill his blood and then he says he will see his seed or you got to working. Okay, the word see their means to perceive by sight or the power to proceed by side know where he's going to be able to see something. How is somebody who has a sacrifice somebody that's going to be made a guilt offering be able to see something because when the blood comes out of the sacrifice when the blood comes out of the body When the blood drains out, there's no life Leviticus teaches that life is in the blood in the Hebrews knew when they clearly understood that is so it says but it says yet he will what he will see his seed. So there is the idea that he's not using the word Resurrection here, but there's going to be a benefit that is going to happen to the Messiah after he goes through this and that he's going to be able to see and what is he going to see he's going to see his seed was all way back we talked about right in the beginning to see dick. The seed is what what are the hours for The Offspring or the result of of what he's done. In other words the result where the fruits of his work he is going to be able to see that. And we see evidence of that right that did that very morning when when Jesus went. I mean when Marion's Peter and all those and they and they went and they saw Jesus had risen from the dead but then he came to them how many times he came and spoke to them? We see and Acts chapter 1 verse 3 says after he had suffered what he presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs. It wasn't just a one-time thing. He came back over and over and over in demonstrate very clearly in many different ways who he was appearing to them up here over a. Of 40 days and speaking about the kingdom of God. He came back and he spent considerable amount of time. You see he was Sting. deceit that's what Isaiah was talking about. But now I doubt it says he goes on he says he will prolong his days. Write it on the cross. He was not what he was about 33. The average lifespan is during that time with was typically around 40 years of age. So anybody would say, you know, if he if he died at age 33, he obviously had his life cut short so obviously in there but he's lost some favorite cuz the idea in Hebrew culture was that if if there was a if you had a long life and may God was in favor of you so a long life was it with proof of divine favor? It's so he's giving a while. He's not using the word Resurrection. He say he's going to have a prolong life. So is this idea and it rolls all the way back for you? This is just one example in Deuteronomy chapter 25 verse 15. And it says that you must have a full and honest weight a full and honest dry measure was he talking about there's talking about buying and selling. So if you go if if you are a vendor for example at the market and you are selling flower and somebody comes up and they say what how much is that and you say well it's a dollar a pound and say okay they say I'll Take 5 lb and so you you put the you put the scale line you make your adjustments and one of the things that people would often do if they would put the they will put the weights on there, but they would they would deliberately Miss calibrate the weights. So that while maybe that looks like it's 5 lb that really actually it might have only been about 4 lb but they would charge you for the 5 lb and what he's saying is no you got him. He said you got to be honest. You got to be you got to have that Integrity. He says you got to be like because if you do You have a long life. You're going to be a piece right? Because you're doing the right thing and there's a lot of instances for a chat leaving for take for example of Ten Commandments right the first ten the first of the first four Commandments we talked about before deal with what the relationship that man has would have got us are vertical relationship the other six have to deal with what the horizontal relationship how can relate to each other stop and think about that he gave us some more Commandments about how we relate to each other and we are related in that's interesting. That's pretty important.

And the first time you going you look at the very first of those Commandments, what's that? First one? He talks about honoring your father and your mother and that's the only commandment he talks back. There's a reward of that when he said your days will be long on face of the Earth. It was a very interesting. So this idea this concept of that. If you are obeying if you're you're following God's wisdom, you're doing those things that will enhance it will give you a longer life. Annie goes on he says by his hands the Lord's pleasure will be accomplished. It is a very strong were there at that's the Hebrew a little Rich to I went to get cereal zebra alliteration, which is only three letters s l h succeeding in other words we say is is he is going to accomplish the mission that God has set out that mean he's he's going to complete the task that God had already intend to do to complete all the way from the beginning. For example, when we go back and we look in Genesis the very beginning. The whole purpose or the whole reason for us being created or how we create it. Right or created. God said, let us make man in our image according to our likeness. Understand that a week we gain warmer understand it because we understand the New Testament. But what is he saying? He's saying this is an expansion of his love. There's an intimate relationship with the father son. Holy Spirit. We love each other intimately desperately. They have always and forever. But the love is so great that they wanted to expand that to let's make man in our image. Cuz we want this a good thing to be spread. In-N-Out vegan and here's what we get another glimpse of that. Nobody talkin about that night where Jesus was with his disciples. And he was one of the most amazing things is that prayer in John chapter 17, which we spent several months going to that couple years ago, but he says he prays for his disciples very intimately, but then he says I pray not only for these but also for those who believe in me through their word, who is that us? We've been reading his word the word of the disciples, right? That's how we have come to know all throughout these on Millenia. So we know and he says did with this right here at man. If you haven't highlight this worth your while we've got the house. Listen, this is so critically important. He says that they may they all be one as you father are in me and I am in you. this is

we would be in warriors with him. That's why I do purpose of Jesus coming up at the what is it? That's what he set out to do.

Maybe also be wanting us to the world may believe you sent me.

This is what points people to Christ. The reason churches die. All the time is because there's no there's no there's no love in the brothers. They don't want they don't love each other when they when they are not living in there talking and clasping that they killed.

But Jesus is when we were one with him. This is how the world knows. This is what draws people to Christ. This is the heart what we're doing now here on this Earth is we're practicing and learning and growing in God's grace to be what we're going to be forever in heaven. What is knocking there's going to be that intimate love that's why you see that's why I got to spend so much time talking about how to relate to one another's why the Hebrews had spent all these Commandments and learning these things you see. So this is that purpose that he's trying to accomplish that unity and goes on a verse 11 nieces and after his anguish. He will see light and be satisfied. What is that lights? You remember what Jesus pray before he went into that, He's a father restore to me. The glory that I had when I was with you father. And we had that for now. I'm in the midst of all the darkness. I'm I'm in the midst of the ugliness of the sin of all the people that are going to eat that are existing. Now that are going to be coming in the future that are going to listen the darkness and the ugliest things if every one of us had a projector right now and it was playing up in it. It would be things that all of us would be ashamed of definition. At exactly

What he came to deal with? That's what the anguish that he was feeling and now he's going to bury that now that is in the grave now that is gone now he is risen from the dead and now in this moment, he is restored with the father and he's in the light and he's satisfied. And by his knowledge the word knowledge. They're actually quite literally means sweat. Which that was interesting when I read that right? So the psychological result of perception of learning and reasoning. Austin endowed by God with with the with often the focus of application of knowledge. Okay. Now it's pretend English to what he's saying is is that that this this is a Divine knowledge or that's that's given by God. That's kind of an aunt. And is that how we live basically, right and so we see this that but this is a holy righteous knowledge. Insane Isaiah chapter 11. He says this he says the route will grow up from the stump of Jesse know what does that mean? Okay, so you we've seen tree stump you cut a tree down what happens to the stump is left and eventually it dies away, you know, 50 years later. You can go breaking up with a trial whatever depending how big it is my buy take less time or more time. But we talking about is there is is who is David's father and a King David and so King David is so what is a serious thing and it got there was this great Kingdom that arose under David and basically they don't turn away from God and they came to Israel came to nothing God's get that God took the nation of Israel way. There were they were they were in Exile and eventually course God brought him back into Jerusalem, but he says he says in her but he says there will be a shoot. There will be like this little little thing that's going to grow up out of the stuff that was once dead. Any set of Branch from its roots will bear fruit. In other words. It's not God's going to take what was dead and he's going to make it a lie. But this is what he says right in the next verse the spirit of the Lord will rest on him. So he's going to do a spirit of what wisdom and understanding the spirit of counsel and strength. Spirit of knowledge and look at this last part and a fear of the Lord. You see here's the idea that what he is conveying here. We talked about the knowledge of Jesus. The knowledge of Jesus is his knowledge of his father. And how precious the word of the father is to him. You see there is this what the scripture teaches us is that they're very important concept. We see it in many places but one place for example in Psalm 1:11 verse 10 says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom all who follow his instruction have good Insight. Okay, so that fear or that high reverence there is also no biting fear because we understand that there's an impending judgments what happens when we take God out of context of things. There's no fear of impending judgment. So there's just do whatever you want to do. But this this idea that there's not only that sphere to get bit but he was more so a deep on reverence for his word in a trust and listen to what we say God. You know what maybe we might send it doesn't make sense to me. That I should do this.

Does it make sense to me? I should go make this right with this person or doesn't make sense to me that I should go to this place and do this thing. I should give that thing. I should do whatever doesn't make sense to me. But Lord. I trust you where that's why I'm going to trust, you know, you can imagine like from here in perspective and it makes sense for Jesus to go to the Cross but it was in God's good plan in his good pleasure. So there's an idea of when when we know his word to be true that preciousness that Adam and Eve did not have they didn't understand when they saw something else that she knows. This is more important than God's word. That's what we lost. Easy sew the messiah's wisdom comes from obeying and trusting the word of his father. You see so this is that knowledge. That is so so by this knowledge by this relationship. What is going to happen? My righteous servant will justify many. You see because Jesus understands this Jesus understood that the only way that we can be right with the father has to be perfect. The only way that we can be in a right relationship with him is to be holy. And Jesus understands that there's no way that we can do that and so he comes and he lives and he dies and now because he did not have since he overcame death. And so now we can be justified. And now he says and He will carry their iniquities He will carry our sins He will carry our punishment you see. so because of this because of this intimate knowledge that Jesus has about his father. Now the father wants to know what he wants to honor his son. So how does he honor his son? Best 12 he says therefore I will give him many as his portion. In other words. I'm going to give him everything. I'm going to give him all things is going to be huge the blessing. I'm going to pour out upon him and he says that he will receive the mighty as spoil this idea or it's the context of what we were talking about earlier that when soldiers go to battle and they win the battle they get the spoil right now. I was just that version that I was reading from earlier is the New Living Translation and I and ennard with his new I will give him the honors of a Victoria's Soldier because he has exposed himself to death, right? So so that's the idea. Isn't this is what he's giving him. An incident comes back to the point where I'm making here is that he made us to be The Spoils of his victory. We were lost. We were hopeless we were doing for punishment and death. But he overcame that anyone that battle that punishment is death of we deserve he took that and so now God is willing to honor him. Why because he willingly submitted himself to death. He did what we could not do. But not only that love the second part. He was counted among the rebels. You see we have to be careful because when we say things like man, I will not be associated with those people. I understand why we do that sometimes but you see it was those people that Jesus came to associate himself with both thieves on the cross. He was on this this was reserved for the worst of punishments. So Jesus can identify with anybody in any circumstance that they have gone through it. So we saying he was counted among the rebels and the important part is recognizing that we have rebelled if we never get to that place where we understand that we were built against then we'll we're going to miss the whole thing. Is yeti bore the sin of many? Another season for the rebels. This was what he came to do was he came not only to carry our sin, but he's also coming to it what to pray for the word intercede means he's spending the time taking the time praying for us.

You see this is a what he was talking about the Fulfillment of what he the promise he made all the way back in Genesis when he was talking to service. That's the serpent. He said I will put hostility between you and the woman between your Offspring and her Offspring. In other words is going to be some tension going on. I'm going to I'm going to fix the thing that you've done here. I'm going to undo what you've done and he said I was he will strike your head and you will strike his heel know you you're going to get a hold of his heel you're going to you're going to cause some damage but ultimately he's going to put death to death going to put an end to death and that's why we are celebrating this morning the Jesus Christ by his resurrection put death to death and we no longer have to die. And that's good news. Amen. father
