First Prayer: PV and Ministry
First Prayer: PV and Ministry
As we gather this morning, we’re coming to this room with a thousand different concerns, tasks, events, and conversations in mind. For some of us, we might be so stressed about accomplishing the next task or getting ready for the next event that it can be hard for us to focus even now. Ministry is hard work. If it weren’t for the glamorous pay, I don’t know how we’d make it. For many of us, we can lose the joy of ministry in all of the overtime hours, arduous tasks, hard conversations, and more. But when we step back from the weeds of work, we see this awesome truth: ministry is a glorious privilege. We have the immense privilege of serving God’s people for the sake of the Gospel and the fame of God’s name everyday. How awesome is that? This awesome privilege is made even more even more incredible when we remember that God doesn’t need our help. He could accomplish all of His purposes by Himself. But he graciously allows us to serve alongside Him. It’s like when I was a kid and my dad would ask me to help him fix something around the house. In reality, my dad didn’t need my help. He was more than capable of fixing whatever it was by himself. But he allowed me the privilege of helping him. By doing so, he not only taught me so much, but he foster depth and love in our relationship. I could never do any of those tasks on my own, but each step of the way he guided me. He would guide my hand with each turn of the wrench or each smack of the hammer. Everytime I would come back with a beaming smile on my face because I got to spend time with my dad. That’s what it’s like for us in ministry. God loves to include us in His work. Every event we plan, every room we set up, every nexonia sheet we submit, every meeting we step into, every lesson we lead is a chance for us to participate in God’s glorious purposes in the world. And we can’t do it on our own. We need Him to guide us. But how amazing is it! May we smile as we do ministry alongside the Lord and feel gratitude for the privilege.
The DLT and many other leaders are meeting this morning and they need our prayers too. They need the Lord to help guide them too. They need God’s guidance as they help us walk through an important season for PV.
So in our first time of prayer, let’s pray for these 3 things
First, let’s thank God for the privilege of getting serve alongside him in ministry. Pray that He would give us joy in our ministry and that he would guide us each step of the way.
Second, pray for our church leaders, that they would feel the joy of ministry and would sense God’s guidance as they meet together.
That God would use PV in a mighty way for the spread of the gospel and the fame of His name.
Second: The Northland
Second: The Northland
In this second time of prayer, I want us to focus on our surroundings outside of the walls of PV, namely the Northland. Spread of the Gospel. We’ve talked a lot about the invite culture, but that means nothing if we’re not sharing the Gospel ourselves. One of the things I want us to pray for is that God would give us the boldness to share the Gospel with our friends, family, and neighbors. Sharing the Gospel, and knowing the glory of the Gospel is a privilege.
Speaking of the Gospel in 1 Peter 1:12, Peter tells us, “in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.”
The angels longed to know to the glory of the gospel. The gospel is glorious to them. Yet, many times we can treat the Gospel like just another basic fact of the universe like gravity. But the Gospel is glorious good news and we should want the whole world to know of it! May we share the Gospel with clarity and joy. If we don’t believe the Gospel is worth sharing, then we have to ask ourselves what we’re doing here today.
We spend much of our day thinking about things inside of the walls of PV, and rightly so. But it’s worth us remembering that God’s purposes are so much larger than PV. In fact, God doesn’t need PV to accomplish His purposes in the world. Pray for other churches
