Hey, man.

I like that let us experience the glory. of your goodness

You know as a kid. I know that I heard that God was good.

I know I heard it from my mother first. For my dad Sunday school teacher preachers. I know I read that. God was good.

But none of that compared. The when I actually tasted as Isaiah 55 says and seen that the Lord was good. Amen. Growing up or my kids growing up. I guess we grew up in two different eras. I grew up where whatever was cooked and on his supper table. I will supper. You didn't go in a smorgasbord and you didn't go in as they now want some mac and cheese. And the only way you ain't mac and cheese if it was already cooked. And and so I've grown up with my kids teaching them the same way in and I I can stop and think back Good Times where something might have been cooked and they were like, that's nasty. I don't want none of that and and I'm like you've never even tasted of it. How do you know it's not good and and it's amazing that some of the things now that they need they eat in big quantities that they didn't even want to taste of the ones they tasted and seen it was good. And you know where we are to our lives are reflect that in our relationship with God. I mean, once we once we taste amen of that free milk without price and that free honey without price a man that there's nothing like it. Amen. Amen. So good to be in the Lord's House tonight love that song. All the singing was great. The the music it is so good to have both piano smoking tonight. You got your Bibles tonight will turn over to the 13th chapter of the book of Romans. read a few verses

will start reading with verse 11.

God's word reads it says and that knowing the time but now it is high time to wake out of sleep for now is our Salvation nearer then when we believed The night is far spent the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light.

Let us walk honestly as in the day not in rioting and drunkenness not in chambering and wantonness not in strife and envy. But put me on the Lord Jesus Christ and make not provisioned for the flesh to fulfill the lust thereof father. We love you. We thank you Lord for your goodness Your Grace & Mercy. We thank you for your presence today Lord father. We thank you for our service this morning for just reaching down and and filling our cups lower than and then tonight. We just continue to hold them to you Lord. We thank you so much for these songs. That's been song. I thank you for the testimonies Lord. And and for the answered prayer Lord, and I think you did we can still come together freely and Ryu word. And so our prayer tonight God is to draw us unto yourself ever. So close and for sure will respond in and draw that way Lord. We love you. We give you praise honor and glory in the name of Jesus. Amen. Amen, and amen and I wasn't familiar scripture. We read tonight make no mistake about it. The old Apostle. He's talkin to the church here. He's not talkin so much to do a group at a Tent Revival or Street Revival a group of people that's lost. But he's he's mainly direct the news award the born-again believer toward the person. Amen that has committed a Life of Christ and if I could sum up what he saying, I don't know never title a message, but but if I was going to titleone a nice message would be titled wake up.

amen That's what he said. He said wake up. He said in his word. He said and that knowing the time that now it is high time to awake out of sleep and he gives a couple of reasons the first one he says because for now is our Salvation nearer than when it first appeared. So I'll say this I've I've been serving the lord for years now and and guess what? However many years that's been that many years closer Amen to meeting him. I'm also that many years closer to time from the Earthly sense coming to an end. So it's not a question of time is going to end and it's not a question if I if I'm going to leave here. It's just a question of when and how and the same is to be said for you. And I and anybody else saved or unsaved and in so he compels Us in there to remind ourselves. Amen that we're getting closer to the end of this thing either by the grave. Amen or or buy him calling his church home, but without a doubt we are getting closer. Now. I personally believe if you look at the at the at the weighted the scripture is being fulfilled and the things that are falling into place. I personally believe that we're ever so close to that happening now, that's that's me you believe what you believe but that's what this little boy believes amen. And and for some that'll be a dreadful day of the Lord for the born-again believer. Amen. It's going to be the finality. Amen a bus leave in our troubles and in Trials behind and reaching on out and stepping into Glory. And guess what? That's where we're all trying to get any way that you men. So he points out in that verse to to put things in their proper perspective and then he sends out a menocal baby Sims out of back and then he sends out a place for us to wake up. Now when he says wake up and I never can read that scripture without hearing my grandfather. Would I live with my grandfather he come in there early in the morning. Y'all heard me say this before and there was only it was only 1376 bushels of peas. We had to pick before lunchtime. It seems like and that's what it felt like but he'd be in there before the date for the sun was even up good and it hit always make this statement and he even made it on down the road in life. If I wasn't ready right when he was ready. It's a son we're going to lose the crop if you don't get out of that bed. Time to wake up. Just the other day. I got on to my son about I know you say what he do. That's the problem and do nothing that day. And in what I got home to him about what he did not just oversleep. They really was no use in him even getting out of bed that day. I mean, he should have just stayed there and wrote it on into the next day. He slept late and he and what I got told him about that why you upset that you didn't get it done. Use the sleep now had he been awake. That's what he would have done. No, he would have done just what he was supposed to. In this verse he's not talkin about the physical sleep. That's not what he's talkin about. What he uses that word to convey that it that the idea or the notion that he's trying to get across in this verse when he says awake out of sleep. He's lacking in that sleep or person being asleep to insensitivity.

We become insensitive for a lot of reasons.

The old story of the boy who cried wolf that one seems to trouble us. I say trouble has heard preachers say so many years down through time. The Lord is coming back. The Lord is coming back. The Lord is coming back that that that it's kind of is kind of pushed the the urgency of us living in anticipation of that moment. It's kind of its kind of door. A little bit. Now you saying that I don't like how you say that doesn't mean we don't believe it. It doesn't mean we don't loan for it. It just means

We're not sure when it's going to happen, and we're not. Overly caught up with the fact that it could happen tomorrow. We've kind of become a little insensitive to that another thing that we become insensitive to. Is the ugliness of sin?

sisters ugly Now sometimes it does not approach you a man or come to you in an ugly way what the fruit that seeing produces produces an ugly outcome. Remind me your problem is that we amen live in a world. that that has bow down to the prince of this world Amen and allowed him to rain in rule in in lives as a whole matter of fact, I want you to understand things things are are to a point now that they've never been at you say what point is that? I'm coming at a point in our very nation and I are very Capital where they are standing look behind behind the the the pulpit that they speak to the to the house or the Senate there and they're making it verbally known in a mocking type way. We don't need to be worried about prayer to be worried about including God and then ething. This is about business. I mean that in the soul, that's that's the mindset and that mindset is coming from adversary. Amen. And in the problem is you and I as Christians when we lived in this whole world and we see this ugliness. We said so much that it be if it ends 2 Not bother is like it did the first time we seen it. I remember as a kid.

My first horse I had. I guess you yesterday about lighting and I don't know what I'm doing. Just go out there one day and all four feet sticking straight up there. Is that her daddy shot it or so, who knows but I was just I can remember it a little bit better. So Daddy bought me a new horse and I never forget man. He brought that horse home. I mean I could even get on it. I want out. They're tired tired of the reins to A A Limb and climbed up that old mimosa tree limb where I can drop down on top of him reset their own side and took off up the road. I was five years old. I guess I got off the road in about three-quarters of a mile. Now, I see why they sold that horse.

No, but he went home. No, sir, he turning wheels and took off running straight out of tree. Run me, right. I mean he sideswiped me off I come I got home and and I wasn't as anxious to get back on that horse. As I was to the first moment that I had got on it after my Dad pulled his belt off and persuaded me. I said I'll get back on it. Didn't he make it as far that time as I did the first time same deal? and that was the that was the worst some horse you ever seen but

interesting thing happened

is

the longer I kept messing with that old horse. And it and it was a dangerous thing and it was until the day that that horse made it to the old Soap Box in the sky.

Is it got to the point where I didn't ride a horse with saddle no more. I just take an old and old hey strain off of a square bale. Hay Tire Loop in it slide over horse's nose. Take off up the road that thing would try to run you off and we got to thinking it was funny and I me we'd look like an Indian would get over on the side of it and and and you were laughing and it's funny now, but would you see that? That's kind of how we grow insensitive to the to the Does Waze send do you want something original? Wait a minute, but then after time you you keep We keep entertaining that you keep dabbling with something that's dangerous and the danger begins to become a little door.

Happens all the time.

I wonder if he's recommending us to

not being sensitive. to the wages of sin

now

this may be an area that for me is a preacher has more troubling than any other. the Bible says the wages of sin is is that the wages in other words the payment for sin is death.

And we've come to a place and then you ain't going to nobody talk about God being any any good Earth. Then I will talk about it. But at the same time, but at the same time he is a just God. And there's a reason that he calls himself a forgiving God is because he enjoys forgiving. What he's not going to forgive somebody who don't ask you. And and and so you said won't will break your work where you going on that is because in society today and I want to say this if you ever move or if you ever get mad at me a Menor r r e is is if you toss me out of here you in and you handcuffed brother Robert to me and you bring somebody else in here and they ever down play the the penalty of sin. You better not listen to him. And he intended to use the point that this on preacher trying to get at is it even from the pulpit? We have become insensitive to the wages of sin because we don't warn people no more a man that live in certain lifestyle or are are are are living in sin and practicing sin and enjoying seeing a men bring when it'll penalty. No, we we want to throw that to the side and just and try to paint this thing to a place. Amen where God's love overrides all of that and you don't have to worry about it. And friend that ain't just ain't true that all the words says for without Holiness. No, man is going to lay eyes on God.

now we like that. We not like it but it's true. But but with the I'm not here tonight to debate with your view on it, but I am here to say have we grown in sensitive to do that is sensitive to the wages of of sand being death for people who are lost. Obviously we have Because if we really believe amen that that people that we love a man we're headed straight to a place of Eternal a mentor me a place where the flame daughter is not a place where the worm dieth not replaced. Amen where it says they will be with me and you man and gnashing of teeth. I don't know about you. But anytime I think about National teeth, I think about an anger I think about a misery I think about a suffering that is beyond any words that we can use to describe it. Amen and not only be a millionaire with with with Satan and all his them throughout eternity. That's the penalty for for dying in a man singing Amen in and how we grown insensitive and when we when we think about that

Wake up.

Amen, have we grown insensitive?

Who's the call that Christ has on our lives?

He's called all of us to be a ambassador of the Gospel. He's called all of us to be fruitful.

How do you mean he's called all of us to be faithful? And then after you get through with the unified calling he calls each one of us individually.

and the more the more then

I had a friend we say it like this I had a friend.

hoorah

I didn't know it at the time it was happening or I would have worn them.

He got one of them little blue papers from the appraisal district. And he's bought it up. Throw it in the trash. It was his property tax.

8 most interesting thing happened in the next year rolled around And guess what he did with that paper next year.

Threw it in the trash.

It finally got to the point. He can't even open it. This went on for are you ready? Not 1 not 11. but for 21 years

and when he Finally open one up. He opened it up because it was in a certified envelope.

And now you can pay what you owe. plus penalties Are you properly supposed to get auctioned? He ended up and he paid it but he ended up paying almost as much for that property. As what it was worth.

You say what in the world? Does that have to do with the message tonight? Is he he thought he could just ignore something?

and not be sensitive to it and it would just

fade away

what you looking at a person here? Then God called preach when he was 13. and then one time 26 years old. I've ignored it. half of my life and I'm thinking

that's probably behind me. And the most interesting thing. That could got said got send was when God tells me in an altar one night is the gifts and callings of God are without repentance.

I praise God he didn't add any penalties to me.

But he did Levi something against me. And that was a call to do his work. I had been insensitive to that for 13 years. And I don't do justice to it now, but I'll make myself available. To do what you would have me to do.

When we read in here, there's something that he says. that that that culminates the necessity for waking up and not being insensitive the things in any in its end this he says wake up. amen

And it goes on down and I'm on the I'm on paraphrase what he says in the word. He says put off the works of darkness. In other words quit being caught up in in preoccupied with with worldly. Lustful envious type things. Amen. And he says he says put those things off and put on The armor of light now here lately more than once we've talked about letting what shining Our Lives.

the light Amen, let's read that verse out here, but she's good. I take back half of the stuff upset about her.

The night is far spent the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light. I want you to know that I have to do on that verse and chewed on that verse. It it reminded it reminded me of something.

19

1989-90 probably 89 or so. I just been out of school not long and and me and Super Bowl wins the most silly friends and man a cousin of mine. It was it was in October, but it was cold there one night and We grabbed one ammo mag flashlights won't you know when I'm long was about like that and doubled as a walking cane and and we went down the river bottom over in little Community called Dogtown in.

went down there and

got to walk in that Ole Boy Scout faster. Yeah, we were doing something we would both be doing. We was with hunting a set of green eyes.

Phone number to found more than that though, and we only had like one light. and I never forget it was so dark that night and that grass was tall and and I knew I knew this boy their own that place and I knew he had a bullpen down there and

And so there we are. We're walking through there and and they fell in front of me. He's got the light.

And the most amazing thing he's signing the lighting and even though I don't have it. I can still halfway function by the light that he Stern.

And I don't remember now cuz it's been it's been a couple of days. I don't remember if he turn the light off. I don't remember if he thought somebody was coming. I do remember we got a space of about 50 ft between us. And I knew he was up there at maybe I just wasn't paying attention. I don't know. I know this I didn't have a light and that hot wire fence was right there. And I didn't realize it until what until I done got in it. I didn't know where the backup go left. Go, right and jump all I knew and I don't know anybody ever got in a hot wire fence when it's like 33 degrees outside. I mean, I mean your teeth it's it's it's okay to do this time is 33 degrees. I just what that preacher was talkin about tonight. I thought I had died.

I mean it was it was. I can start crying now thinking about it. It was a bad.

oh, man, I'm telling you never been a watermelon over it been worth it, but but my phone is I sure could have used the light. Fathead light I will say something else wouldn't wouldn't happen, but that wouldn't have. in that in that verse he says put on the armor of lighting and as I was chewing on that my mind drifted back to that night that we was out there spotlighting in little boys cow pasture and

And here lately out for me personally. I've been so focused on letting my light shine. I'm running up to somebody and Shining a light for them. And I think that's okay. And I think that's fair. But the more I think about it. I'm going to tell you how I feel about it tonight. And this may just be for the preacher. But when I read this verse here. I think that he's calling me out and he's calling us out saying wake up.

God's coming back at any minute get all that unnecessary stuff out of your life. Put on his armor put on his armor of light. Don't worry so much about going and Shining somebody else's path. You just illuminate yours.

And then the most amazing thing might just happen.

Then somebody else may see your light.

I think sometimes we want to run up to him and Shine the Light and tell them.

instead of just simply letting God radiates his Beauty his love his gentleness his kindness his tenderness through us.

He said the night is far spent in the days at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on you. See we are used to reading the whole armor of God, but I love this. It says the armor of light.

Maybe that's for the preacher tonight. But you know what, I'll take it cuz guess what the preacher needs to do. You might not just survive this but I will reach needs to wake up.

Because my papa was right we fixing to lose a whole crop of Souls.

If we don't get up. And hit the fields. Matter of fact Jesus said free until the lord of the Harvest that he may send forth laborers into the fields.

last three words Wilder time

across this land during the time that that we've been inside God's house tonight.

I wonder how many people stepped out into eternity.

That their time is over. Between now and next Sunday or Wednesday whenever we get together again. I wonder how many peoples going to step out of here and not been told once there's a better way there's a way of salvation. There's going to be some. The question is will they be any on your watch? And will there be any on my watch? And do you know who that who that up to? You and me. Put that first verse back up their sister, and I'm done.

And that knowing the time. But now it's high time. No worries. It's past time. To wake out of our sleep out of Aryan insensitivity.

because the the end of this thing the end of opportunities the end of chances is near than We ever realized Justin Martyr. Come on up here.
