You likely won’t be healthy or wealthy unless you use wisdom

Two different teachings in the body of Christ

Prosperity teaching
Poverty teaching
3 John 2 NASB95
2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

It’s better to be healthy and wealthy spiritually than physically

Luke 16:11 NASB95
11 “Therefore if you have not been faithful in the use of unrighteous wealth, who will entrust the true riches to you?

Watch out for three dangerous modes

The money mode (wealth and riches)
The nutrition mode (health and physical well being)
The wisdom mode (knowledge and man’s wisdom)

So what is God’s desire for His people?

Deuteronomy 28:1–13 NASB95
1 “Now it shall be, if you diligently obey the Lord your God, being careful to do all His commandments which I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. 2 “All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the Lord your God: 3 “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. 4 “Blessed shall be the offspring of your body and the produce of your ground and the offspring of your beasts, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock. 5 “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. 6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. 7 “The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways. 8 “The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you. 9 “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, as He swore to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. 10 “So all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will be afraid of you. 11 “The Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your beast and in the produce of your ground, in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. 12 “The Lord will open for you His good storehouse, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 “The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully,

1 Peter 2:24 NASB95

What does it mean to be wise?

Wisdom is the ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding.

How do we get wisdom?

James 1:5 NASB95
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Proverbs 9:10 NASB95
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
Proverbs 29:15 NASB95
15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother.

To sum it all up

Proverbs 21:30 NASB95
30 There is no wisdom and no understanding And no counsel against the Lord.
Proverbs 3:5–10 NASB95
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your body And refreshment to your bones. 9 Honor the Lord from your wealth And from the first of all your produce; 10 So your barns will be filled with plenty And your vats will overflow with new wine.
