Daniel chapter 9
Daniel 9:24-27 – The 70 Weeks of
Daniel
1. (24a) Seventy weeks are determined
for the Jews and Jerusalem.
General Divisions in
Prophetic Time
1. The Times of the Gentiles
(Luke 21:24 and Romans 11:25)
2. The Times of Israel (Daniel
9:24-27)
Luke 21:24: And they will fall by the edge of the
sword, and be led away captive into all nations.
And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles
until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
Lukas 21,24
21,24 Und sie werden fallen durch die Schärfe
des Schwertes und gefangen weggeführt
werden unter alle Nationen; und Jerusalem
wird zertreten werden von den Nationen, bis
die Zeiten der Nationen erfüllt sein werden.
Romans 11:25: For I do not desire, brethren,
that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest
you should be wise in your own opinion, that
blindness in part has happened to Israel until
the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
der Nationen eingegangen sein wird;

Daniel
3. (25) The course and dividing of the
seventy weeks.
The seventy weeks are divided
into three parts:
• Seven weeks - 49 years, until the city and
its walls are rebuilt
• 69 weeks (7 plus 62), 483 years from the
decree, until Messiah the Prince appears
• A final 70th week to complete the
prophecy
Daniel 9:24-27 – The 70 Weeks of
Daniel
4. (26) What happens after the first
sixty-nine weeks.
According to Daniel 9:24-24, from the
decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the
coming of the King there will be:
7 + 62 "weeks"
= 69 groups of seven years
7 x 69 = 483 years
Anderson sees a prophetic year (what
the Bible means as a year in exact
measurement of days) as 360 days,
based on Revelation 11:2, 13:5 and 11:3,
and 12:6 which indicate that 42 months
(3.5 years) equals 1,260 days
483 years x 360 days in a year
= 173,880 days
Artaxerxes started his reign in 465 B.C.
The decree to rebuild Jerusalem was
given on the first day of Nisan, in the 20th
year of Artaxerxes (Nehemiah 2:1).
In our calendar system (the Julian
calendar) that date is March 14, 445 B.C.
Jesus started His ministry in the 15th
year of Tiberius (see Luke 3:1). Tiberius
started his reign in 14 A.D., so Jesus'
ministry started in 29 A.D.
Anderson believes that Jesus celebrated
four Passovers during His ministry: one
each in 29, 30, 31 and His final Passover
in 32. The date of ancient Passovers can
be calculated by lunar charts, so it is
possible to calculate the exact day of
Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem as
April 6, 32 A.D.
From 445 B.C. to 32 A.D. there are
476 years according to the Julian
Calendar (the calendar we use today).
There are not 477 years,
because there is no year 0.
476 years x 365 days = 173,740 days
173,740 days from 445 B.C. to 32 A.D.
Daniel said there would be
173,880 days
Adjustment:
From March 14 to April 6, add 24 days
Adjustment:
For leap years in the period, add 116
days
The total number of days from March 14,
445 B.C. to April 6, 32 A.D.:
173,880 days
The total number of days from March 14,
445 B.C. to April 6, 32 A.D.:
173,880 days
Daniel said there would be
173,880 days

Daniel
5. (27) The events of the seventieth
week.
The Prominence of this Seven Year Period
There are repeated references to it – in each of its halves –
in other passages of Scripture:
• Daniel 7:25 – a time and times and half a time
• Daniel 12:7 – a time and times and half a time
• Revelation 11:2 – for forty-two months
• Revelation 11:3 – one thousand two hundred and sixty
days
• Revelation 12:6 – one thousand two hundred and sixty
days
• Revelation 12:13-14 – a time and times and half a time
• Revelation 13:5 – for forty-two months

6. What happens between the sixtyninth and the seventieth week?
For I say to you, you shall see Me no more till
you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the
name of the Lord” (Matthew 23:39).

23,39 denn ich sage euch: Ihr werdet mich von
jetzt an nicht sehen, bis ihr sprecht: „Gepriesen
