Read: Hebrews 3:1-3

Hebrews 3:1–3 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; 2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. 3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
We think sometimes of the attributes of God and list them out:
We could get real technical but I like the simple list of Tozer from The Knowledge of the Holy
Self-existent
Self-sufficient
Eternal
Infinite
Immutable
Omniscient
Omnipotent
Transcendent
Omnipresent
Faithful
Good
Just
Merciful
Holy
But we sometimes forget that Jesus who is God - has the same attributes, I woke up this afternoon thinking specifically of Jesus’ faithfulness.
The writer of Hebrews focuses on His physical faithfulness:
Hebrews 3:2 KJV 1900
2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
Jesus was faithful to the Father
Said everything the Father wanted Him to say
Did everything the Father wanted Him to do
Went everywhere the Father wanted Him to go
Obeyed The Father at every turn, even to the death of the cross.
The author goes on to contrast and compare the faithfulness of Moses and Jesus and the faithfulness of Jesus has more glory, and a greater effect than that of Moses.
You ask why is that important?
Let me tell you...
Jesus was faithful to His Priestly duties:
Hebrews 3:1 KJV 1900
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
Consider the…High Priest of our profession
The reason the author is comparing and contrasting Moses they were both Prophet, Priest, and Leader of a group of people.
Moses had Aaron slaughter the animal and pray a few prayers for the people
Jesus allowed Himself to be arrested, bound, led to the cross, and nailed there to die - and took His own blood into the Heavenly Holy of Holies and sprinkled the Heavenly Mercy Seat with His Own Blood!!!
His blood atoned for all our race

He ever lives above

For me to intercede,

His all-redeeming love,

His precious blood, to plead;

His blood atoned for all our race,

And sprinkles now the throne of grace.

Jesus was Faithful to His Prophetic Duties
Jesus was the Faithful Witness -
Revelation 1:5 KJV 1900
5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
THE FAITHFUL WITNESS
Pilate was given a good witness - 1 Timothy 6:13
Other recieved a good witness - John called Him the Word John 1:1
and that faithful witness came all the way down to me:
John 1:16 KJV 1900
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
and going on to verse 17
John 1:17 KJV 1900
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
I’m so thankful that Jesus was faithful to God and through that was faithful to me and you!
