Yes, I’m a Believer
- Characterization of Thomas - one of the twelve. Status of Thomas - he was not with them at the first meeting.
- Subsequently because he missed the first meeting the disciples made a pronouncement to them that they had seen the Lord. Response - His response was that the condition of his belief would be that he would have to see the print of the nails, put his finger into the nails, and thrust his hand into His side. Denial - he would not believe.
- Thomas is accompanying the rest eight days after the first talk with Thomas. Arrival - Jesus came to them while the doors were shut. Subsequent - subsequentially after the doors were shut He stands in their midst. Greeting - He gives them a greeting after showing up.
- Jesus invites Thomas so that he might believe: 1. Reach hither thy finger, 2. Behold my hands, 3. Reach hither thy hand, 4. Thrust it into my side. Result - that he be not faithless but believe.
- The Response of Thomas - his confession, “My Lord and my God.”
- The Response of Christ to Thomas - The reason you believe is because you have seen; the beatitude - blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
