Introduction

God gives us a light.

Psalm 119:105-112

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path

106 I have sworn, and I will perform it That I will keep thy righteous judgments.

107 I am afflicted very much: Quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.

108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, And teach me thy judgments.

109 My soul is continually in my hand: Yet do I not forget thy law.

110 The wicked have laid a snare for me: Yet I erred not from thy precepts.

111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: For they are the rejoicing of my heart.

112 I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes Alway, even unto the end.

I. The Ownership of the Word

Look at the first two words, “Thy Word...”

Turn to Psalm 12:6-7

God’s Word is Pure (The Words of the LORD are pure words...)

There is no Corruption in God’s Word

There is no Contradiction in God’s Word

We are cleansed by God’s Word (Psalm 119:9)

God’s Word is Perfect (purified seven times)

Seven is the number of completion and perfection.

Seven Days of Creation “God said it was good” (Genesis 1-2)

Seven “I am” Statements of Christ

Seven phrases spoken by Christ on Calvary’s Tree

And don’t even get me started on the number seven in Daniel and Revelation when it comes to the end times......

God’s Word is Preserved (Thou shalt keep them....)

God’s Word will stand now and forever

Our God CANNOT lie (Titus 1:2)

Jesus said heaven and earth shall pass away, but MY words shall NOT pass away (Matthew 24:35)

II. The Object of the Word

“…is a lamp unto my feet,”

It’s God’s Word, that He has given to us!

God’s Word was given to us through the Gospel

Christ (the word) came in the flesh (John 1)

The Gospel is what saves men (Romans 1:16, I Corinthians 15:1-4)

God’s Word was given to us by the Holy Ghost

II Peter 2:21

II Timothy 3:16

God’s Word was given to us as a Guide (Use as transition to point 3)

III. The Objective of the Word

“…and a light unto my path.”
