Funeral

Welcome
Thank you all for coming to celebrate the life of Becky Knipe. We have gathered here to praise God and to witness to our faith as we celebrate the life of Becky. We come together in grief, acknowledging our human loss. May God grant us grace, that in pain we may find comfort, in sorrow hope, in death resurrection.
Prayer
Father God, I thank you for the life of Becky and I ask that your Spirit would surround the Knipe family as they continue to mourn their loss. I ask that you would comfort them in their pain. That you would give them hope in knowing that they will see Becky once more when it is their time to be called home. That you would give them strength by surrounding them with family member and friends who can help them during this time. I pray that they would find time in their mourning to remember all of the great times they had with Becky and that it would bring a smile across their face and that laughter would fill the room. I thank you for all those who have come today to glorify you and to celebrate the life of Becky. We give you all glory, honour, and praise. Amen

One Easter Grandma Becky hid Easter eggs for Rae Claire and Creed to hunt, Four of the eggs had a $5.00 bill rolled up and tucked inside.  After the hunt only three of the four bonus had been found. The search was on, finally the on following Easter the bonus egg was found.
Graduated high school 4 times, once in 1948, she also graduated in 1969, followed that in 1974, she said this was her toughest year and again in 1975.
She never missed a grand or great grand kids sporting event, recital, or play. She was proud of her family and never missed an opportunity to brag on her grand babies.
She loved sports, if she wasn’t playing golf on the weekend she was watching it on TV. Her favorite teams were the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and any Texas Tech Teams playing at the time.
Becky was very talented, sowing, knitting, cross stitching, painting and pottery there wasn’t much she didn’t try and not much she didn’t excel in.
Becky was a member of the Ladies Golf Association, a Pink Lady at Cogdell Memorial Hospital, as well as Den Mother for Boy Scouts.
Golf was her game first adopted on the oil soaked sand in Iraq.  She brought this talent home with her to the Ladies Golf Association and achieved city champion in the 70’s 3 times.
The women in the family appreciated that you don’t come between Becky and her Beauty appointment, which, Lloyd affectionately termed “Becky’s getting her hair bent.”      She also loved to travel with her friends and family which she adored.
Becky learned her work ethic from the Farm at Mulberry Canyon and put it to task as she was an impeccable housekeeper and juggled numerous other talents painting, golfing, handwork, cooking, entertaining  her friends  and caring for three loving sons.
Growing up I remember looking at my grandma and thinking at one point in time that she had to be a princess. She even carried her hands like a Disney Princess does with her blush pink nails always perfectly done. I remember her gold lipstick tubes with the velvet on the bottom, all her fancy jewelry, how she always had flowers on the table or some center pieces even if we were just having sandwiches, along with her tea napkins that went with every season. Her pink bathtub was a dead giveaway that she was secretly a princess. She always had the best bed time stories even if she would scare me to death about Billy Goat Gruff. She was a story book grandma simply the best grandma I could ever ask for. She was the epitome of a lady and everything a granddaughter could ask for.
Proverbs 31:10–31 ESV
10 An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. 11 The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. 14 She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. 15 She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens. 16 She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. 17 She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. 18 She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night. 19 She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle. 20 She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. 25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. 27 She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” 30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.
Becky was an incredible woman and a blessing to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Yet, even in the midst of our sorrow we can rejoice knowing that she knew God and had a personal relationship with Christ.
Psalm 23 ESV
A Psalm of David. 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
As we lay to rest the body of Becky we also need to understand that she is not here in this grave. The Lord was her shepherd and she followed God wherever he led her and now she has been led to throne of God to spend eternity with him and the loved ones who went before her. As you mourn your loss today take time to rejoice in the fact that she is with God and that she is no longer struggling with pain and sickness but is made whole. Remember the great times you had with her and share those memories with your loved ones.
Prayer/Committal
Almighty God,   into your hands we commend your daughter Becky Knipe, in sure and certain hope of resurrection to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. This body we commit to the ground(to the elements, to its resting place), earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. (TRADITIONAL)Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labors   for their deeds follow them.
